Niki was out on a lovely stroll when she noticed somebody a little ahead of her.

She was going to ignore them, especially when she realized who it was, but unfortunately he noticed her as well.

"Hey," he said.

"Hi, we haven't met yet, I'm Niki," she replied, definitely on her guard. She'd heard a few things about him, notably his mean trait.

"I'm Jack," he introduced himself, and although it was faint, perhaps even forced, Niki was pretty sure she saw a smile.

A smile!

She wasn't about to ignore everyone else's opinions about this Sim, but from what she could tell... he didn't seem so terrible.

"You know, I heard from more than one Sim that you were a bit of a... plumbob," she told him frankly.

Jack laughed. "Yeah, well, they aren't wrong. You caught me with a lot of happy moodlets."

Harley didn't care whether or not the party would earn them a gold medal. He was having a great time chatting with a certain sim he had his eye on.

"I really liked talking to you the other day. I'm glad we get to hang out again," he told her.

"Me too," Niki replied. "I can't believe you guys have a radio too!. We're way too broke to have any electronics, let alone a solar panel!"

"Your luck will turn around soon enough," Harley smiled encouragingly, aware of their financial struggles. "What kind of music do you like?"

As the evening went on and the two got to know each other better, they also got a lot cozier. By the time the party drew to a close, Harley wasn't the only one feeling flirty.

That was as far as it went though. He was really interested in pursuing something with Nikisha, but he didn't want to move too quickly either, especially not when she still hadn't found her footing in this new save file.

"I had so much fun at the party last night. Jack was all over me. You know, it was just a bit of fun at first to see if I could get him... but now... I don't know. I didn't think it was going to be this good."

Niki looked awkwardly around. "Why are you telling me this?" she asked. They barely had a friendship bar. They definitely didn't share juicy details about each other's love lives...

"Oh right, I forgot, you had a thing for him at one point!" Octavia said with wide eyes. "Sorry! I didn't think that was still going on. I haven't seen him pay you any attention lately."

"What's your problem, anyway?" Niki asked, completely dumbfounded. "Do you have to stir up llamapoop everywhere you go? No wonder no sims in this save file even like you."

"Jack likes me," Octavia shrugged. "A lot, actually."

Niki shook her head. That whole thing she almost started up with Jack was definitely a meteor dodged. Octavia could have him.

Niki noticed Harley in the distance and immediately jogged over to greet him.

"We just saw each other at Gabi's dinner party! Do you really miss me that much already?" she asked with a flirty smile.

"Why else would I come all this way to walk Rain?" Harley replied without skipping a beat.

Niki was flattered. "Well, you don't need any excuses to see me. I love spending time with you."

"I'll keep that in mind," Harley grinned.

"I think it's gonna rain again soon," Niki looked up at the dark gray sky. "What a summer we've had... it's been nasty weather almost every day!"

"Yeah, I should hurry and get back to the mainland," Harley sighed.

"I'll call you sometime during the round, we can make plans to hang out," Niki assured him.

Meanwhile, Rain was shipping it hard. (Definitely not just in heat...)

Harley would've stayed and chatted with Niki a lot longer, but he was starving and a bowl of fruit salad was calling his name. Niki said goodbye and watched him retreat into the house.

"Hey, you wanna play a game of Don't Wake the Llama with us?" Gabi called out.

"Yeah, I need a bit of competition, Gabs sucks," Floyd added with a teasing grin in his girlfriend's direction. She kicked him under the table — playfully.

"Oh! Sure," Niki smiled.

She wasn't going to say no to a bit more socialization, especially with Floyd and Gabi. She had good first impressions with both of them, and they felt similarly about her as well.

Most Sims ended up leaving when Harley cleared the sales table for the day, but one in particular decided to stick around.

"You looked like you were melting earlier," Nikisha commented when she noticed Harley had changed into his hot weather outfit. "Hey, by the way. I hope you guys don't mind if I hang out for a bit."

"No, not at all! It's nice to officially meet you... I've seen you around a bunch, but I don't think we've ever talked," Harley replied.

"You know what, I think you're right. And it's been almost two years since we arrived here? How did we manage?" Nikisha laughed good-naturedly. "I actually always thought you seemed pretty cool, so I'm glad we get the chance to hang out a bit now," she added.

Harley grinned at her. He thought she was very attractive. She had a big, beautiful smile and he just really liked women with the Self-Assured trait.

"We both have Popularity as our secondary Sim type so I'm sure we'll get along great!" he said.

"Awww, did you come all this way just to see me? I'm flattered," Niki said with a playful smile, pulling Carmine into a hug.

"Yeah, I wanted to talk," Carmine replied. He gently pulled his hands away from hers and put a bit of extra distance between them. "We had a good time at the party the other night, but it can't happen again."

"Okay, no worries," Niki replied without skipping a beat.

"Yeah? Really? You're fine with us just staying friends?" Carmine looked surprised and a little confused.

"Of course! Listen, I know a fling when I see one, especially with a non-committal Sim... no offense. But seriously, I'm not gonna get all bent out of shape over it."

"Oh, okay cool," Carmine grinned. "Thanks."

Niki wondered if he finally got the plumbob to talk to Emery. She had a feeling those two had a thing, and the last thing she wanted was to be someone's second place prize.

It would've been nice to woohoo him though. Shame.

Biography: When biologist Kennedy started having doubts about the ethics of an experiment she was working on at the science lab in SimCity, she decided to leave everything behind to join the group of young and eager BACC founders. Biography: Tavi llamapooped her way through the application process for the Build-a-City Program and somehow managed to get in. Is anything she wrote true? Absolutely not. How long will she be able to pretend she’s a genius with a biology degree? Probably not very long. Anything beats staying in SimCity though…

Maddox Strong

Biography: Maddox was honorably discharged from the army a few years ago, but his time serving left him with a lot more baggage than he’s willing to show. Working odd jobs to pay the bills isn’t enough for him anymore. In search of something more for the sake of his mental health, Mads applied for the Build-a-City Program and was almost immediately approved.

Nikisha Monroe

Biography: Growing up poor in a part of the city with the worst eco footprint, Niki is determined to change her life for the better by applying for the Build-a-City Program. She’s worked three jobs at times to make ends meet, but that’s about to change. In this new nation, everyone will be on the same level and she’ll finally get her chance.
