ORIGINAL CONTENT: Obsolete doorways @ Republic Steel Niles plant circa mid 2000s. When Republic bought this plant during WWI there were twenty-eight sheet mills, two jobbing mills, five cold rolling mills, and a galvanizing plant. Is that conduit or just heavy duty wire? Industrial Remnants, Niles, O. - According to a 1909 Sanborn fire map, these are the last two structures left standing (that I’m aware of) from the Niles Firebrick Co. The house in the front served as the offices, the three story brick structure was the pattern shop. I read that Niles Firebrick recruited heavily in Italy. Took this from the rail road tracks behind the mill.
