Brothers

Despite the circumstances surrounding his conception, the Princess never bore any ill will towards her brother. Quite the contrary, she grew to love him deeply.

When the boy's mother started disappearing more and more frequently - evidently bored by court life, and never having been much impressed with motherhood - the princess took a more maternal role in his life. And once again started making the Capital her home.

The Princess eventually bore a child of her own, a boy she named Nicolas, whom six year old Prince Emhyr referred to as “baby brother”.

The Crown Prince

In return for saving the life of the young Princess, the witch had but one demand. That the child she would bear the Emperor be placed next in line for the throne.

Empress Àva was…mercurial. She could at times be kind, but at the drop of a hat lash out in wicked cruelty.

She was said to be even less kind to her child than to the palace servants.

It became apparent that she was searching for something. Something inside the walls of the Imperial Palace.

Whispers spread, of the practicing of blood magic, of strange ruins appearing on marble floors… screams heard from the Empress’ wing.

Emperor Fergus’ downfall, though he may not have been aware at the time, was largely accelerated by Empress Àva's presence.

In marrying her, and spurning Lady Mathilde, he had created many enemies at court.

Friends

The Princess, saddened by the loss of her mother, angered at the knowledge that the sacrifice had been made in service to her own health, fled the palace with her husband as soon as she had made a full recovery.

She did not break away from the royal family, of course, but she did become a valuable diplomat in the court of Queen Sirreio of Zerrakania, refusing to stay in Nilfgaard longer than a few days - as long as Empress Àva was in residence.
