"The Estate is as smashed up as it's been since a similar night when I was a boy, and yet they didn't kill anyone."
- Rupert Greeves, about the transmortal riot in the early days of the elections of the new Brendan, The Drowned Vault, page 141, Ashtown Burials, N. D. Wilson
Could he possible have been referring to the battle in The Door Before, when Hyacinth Smith inadvertently led Nimiane’s creatures straight into the Estate?
All right, I know The Door Before was written years after The Drowned Vault and probably wasn’t even planned then, but perhaps N. D. Wilson remembered that line and decided to expand on it?
