It's interesting that Ulti & Page One may end up "serving" Yamato. If they do, then Yamato may start collecting vassels in the same way Oden did, gathering the 9 scabbards on his journey across Wano.

I wonder if Yamato will also have 9 scabbards like Oden did and who they would be. If Ulti & Page One take 2 slots, and Tama could potentially be the 3rd - could be remaining 6 slots be filled by the other tobi ropo? Whos Who has already been beaten, so he could be forced into submission by Yamato similiar to Ashura Doji. Sasaki & Black Maria are unknowns at this point so I'm not sure when or where they'd come into play.

But even then that only puts us at 6 scabbards for Yamato. If we're sticking with former beast pirates King, Queen & Jack could be contenders. But I feel like Yamato recruiting them would take more than a cover story. Those 3 clearly had more loyalty to Kaido, especially King, and served with him longer so for them to suddenly follow Yamato, depsite being Kaido's child, isn't something I see happening in a cover story.

On top of this, the last cover story ended with Caesar & Judge reforming a neo-MADs, so I'd personally prefer for Queen to somehow escape Udon and join them rather than being clumped together with the other former beast pirates.

Though that is also dependent on Yamato allowing Ulti & Page one to follow him. I imagine it'll play out like Oden and Yamato will be worn down and have to accept his fate as leader of his new scabbards. But if thats the case I struggle to see them joining the crew.

If Oda is using this cover story to set up Yamato forming his own entourage, then it wouldn't make sense for Yanato to immediately ditch them to join the strawhats. And while I am aware Oden did the same to join Whitebeard, those events occured over years - I imagine it'd only be a few weeks or months between Yamato's cover story and them reuniting with the crew.

Though to be fair, as Kaido's son, Yamato does have 28 years of history with the beast pirates. So if all of his new vassels are former beast pirates, I can see Oda using the cover story to turn some of them into allies ahead of the final war and then dip with the Strahats for the last few arcs like Oden did (& Tama may tag along with Yamato like Izo did)

I will say I wasn't expecting much when this cover story began but since the Whos Who baddie reveal, I've been becoming more and more interested in where its going.

Chapter 1022 — The stars take the stage

Killer chapter once again, pun intended!

First we get a nice little recap about both the Flying Six…

…and Luffy’s condition and also a reminder of where Onigashima currently is.

However, it doesn’t look good for the nine scabbards. 

Although we still see some of them in action (wonder where Denjiro, Izo and Kawamatsu are going), Raizo’s speech doesn’t bode well.

Again the oft repeated imagery of a breaking dawn. And Kiku; once again your smile breaks my heart.

I wonder what Fukurokuju is thinking there. Realising deep-lying truths or despising Raizo’s bleeding heart?

A glimpse of the chaos captains!

Although I really dislike Hawkins, I have to applaud his ruthlessness in picking and using his shields. I wonder how his powers work? Does he have to touch his victim or is it enough that he’s close to them? Can he just think about who he wants to use and it happens?

And did Killer kill their whole crew, if Kid is one of the last ones Hawkins has left?

Seeing how quickly he realises Hawkin’s strategy, Killer truly is the brain cell carrier of the Kid Pirates.

I really like the panelling here, with Kid literally between Hawkins and Killer. The agression in Killer’s laugh and speech is also a nice touch – he can’t even show how angry he is because of the SMILE, so the only outlet he has is his laugh.

Sanji echoing Marco in chapter 1006 here, commenting on the difficulty of keeping two one billion bounty-pirates at bay simultaneously. You go, curlyhead!

I approve. Nothing more to say about this.

And finally, I have mentioned time and time again how much I admire Oda’s page transitions – and the last one in this chapter is pure gold.

Firstly, I wonder about the race living on the red line that Marco’s referencing. Maybe something to do with the giant straw hat in Mariejois? Secondly, we have the bandages being seemingly ripped apart by a great force, tiny Chopper being amazed, and you turn the page…

…to this.

Foreboding or promising, Zoro and Sanji’s last exchange there?

We’ll have to wait and see!

In your Sea of Monster, Momo and Hiyori got to be pretty strange too. I mean, they literally grew up on Roger's ship. The parantage too. Toki got time traveling power. She must have seen glimpse of things in between the crack. Of things from the in between of the vast from her travel through time. Oden is Oden. The 9 that follows Oden can also be pretty Eldritch. I mean, following an order from 20 years ago at all cost. Not dying against all odds. Or did they actually die already but is being kept alive by the bond?

wano spoilers ahead!

OOOOOOOOOOO okay so! will say that the nine red scabbards will not have anything eldritch about them, despite their promise! this is still one piece, and people are pretty fucking awesome on their own. not everyone needs to be affected by the east for that to be true aha.

HOWEVER. MOMO AND HIYORI. Now those two fall perfectly in with what has been established in this series. like??? living on a demon ship? somethings gotta be fucked up. also the idea of roger n the rest of the crew from the east trying to be like ?? how do you play with normal child??? are bones still an appropriate teething toy?? do they like blood?? etc etc is amazing.

i wouldnt say that any thing would be extreme, but probs increased awareness of the veil... which is something i am playing around with ;DD

but with toki... toki lived in the void century. toki knows things. there's... a lot about the lore of this series that i haven't mentioned yet, that deals with stuff in the void century... after all, if an entire kingdom can be destroyed then - what else could have been established in its place? the veil must have started somewhere....

also i had to look up something for this and toki's fruit is literally her name im screaming
