I’d imagine Meau is one hell of a famous legend, this massive ancient mew that predates the more commonly seen smaller one. So seeing what equates to a prehistoric creature still roaming about that supposedly created all Pokémon based life…. I too would not want to breath around it.

are you referencing something specific when you say that bucket, like her mother at that age, doesn't have emotional capacity for understanding? just that meau was less critical once, or something else? meau is such a sweet motherly thing now that i keep thinking about it since you posted that.

It’ll be a lot clearer what I mean by that at the start of the Missingno. Arc, but for now think of it like how toddlers are. They have basic emotions, but do have have the understanding of how complex those emotions can be and will become.

So when a toddler repeats things their parents say, they often fail to ALSO relay the necessary context, diction, tone, and underlining meaning. Making things sound a lot different then they were!

Meau was very similar to that in her younger years, not having grown into herself enough to understand the complexity of emotion within her and around her. Bucket is much the same way, thus in turn, Bucket can’t fully grasp what her mother tells her. She knows what the words mean, just not the full weight of meaning behind him.

It’s both to demonstrate how younger Meau through Bucket, as well as more in depth juxtaposition between Meau’s relationship with her daughter and Meau’s relationship with King, AU child equivalent! With Bucket and King sibling AU writing as a treat ;3

for real though my lead into this was very 'ugh they're gonna try and catch her and they're not going to have any idea what they're up against and she's going to kill some people but probably for (very legitimate, very good, furthering the plot of it all) story reasons something will catch her off guard, it's going to be a whole mess and i feel bad for both sides'

Ehe,, glad it was a pleasant surprise! Caught off guard or not, I see it to be pretty difficult to take Meau down via any normal human means. They’d need to genuinely employ one of her brothers or an actual legendary to pose any real threat to her.

As the problem with writing god like characters is it’s really hard for anything to really threaten them, so I try to keep that in mind for situations she does feel threatened in; as well as make sure I don’t dumb the story down for the sake of taking her out or down a peg unsatisfyingly.

Cant say I’ve accomplished it in all honesty? I’m very uneasy about my earlier writing sometimes cuz… I did not intially plan this much serialization. But I really do try and put a lot of work and effort into making it both fit and read decently enough given the “flying by the seat of my pants” the story took on X3

The Noe arc is something I’ve especially put so much work into just writing to accomplish that improvement and satisfaction for readers ;3!

I’m not patient. I have an aggressive reading style. I throw books down cliffs and jump after them to read them as we fall.
