Synopsis : The modern office worker Yang Ling unexpectedly enters the fantasy-filled Dafeng Dynasty and takes on a new identity as Xu Qi'an. I don’t know which Ning Chuan face I love more - the pained and confused expression of “what fresh hell do I have to deal with now, gods, how is this my life” or the crinkly eye smile in the most fakest jovial and approachable expression ever. The whiny quality in his voice when he complains to Duke Chang “Uncle, what does my father want from me? Why can’t he just tell me plainly what he expects and I’ll happily do it like the good little order-following Crown Prince that I am?” That actor is absolute gold.
He looks at Ning Yan and says “You truly are my blood brother. You always are one step ahead of me.”
He means: “I’ll will fuck you up, you little shit, until only dust remains of you. I’ll fucking straight up murder you with my own two hands, if you won’t stop meddling in my schemes, and if looks could kill you would already be making an impression of a supernova. The only thing keeping me from wrapping my hands around your throat or putting my fingers into your eye sockets is that I am currently in the presence of two witnesses too many.”
And Ning Yan gazes back at devoutly and is basking in his attention like a little dog “Look, master, look at the pile of poop I made, I did it for you, only for you, aren’t you proud of me?!! I’m a good boy!!”
