I’m kinda curious what a tale of Beauty and the Beast would be like with Grimoires

In many ways, Charlotte and Yami’s grimoires follow a kind of Beauty and the Beast story now that you bring it up. Charlotte’s grimoire is briar, so like many fairytale heroines she’s associated with nature. Also, in many versions of Beauty and the Beast it’s a rose in the Beast’s garden that tempts Beauty’s father to enter the gates because he really wants to take one home to Beauty since they’re so beautiful. Even though Charlotte is meant to make us think of Sleeping Beauty there’s a lot of imagery that transfers to Beauty as well. 

Yami’s magic fits into this analogy as well since his grimmoire is dark. Darkness can be scary especially in an age of roaming wolves and it’s part of why so many European fairytales are wary of the woods and the night. However, a bit like the beast, once you get to know the darkness and how to navigate it, it’s not as scary though it can be dangerous like how Yami is a very dangerous mage but he can also be a good person as well. Also when you consider the black associated with Yami’s dark magic is a power of absorption, since Yami used it to cut the briars it’s possible that his power could absorb Charlotte’s curse along with Yami meeting the requirement of making Charlotte go all doki doki. 

Another thing to consider is part of the Beast’s curse comes back to love and control over the self. The Beast has to learn to control his emotions, control his mannerisms, etc...much like how Charlotte has to learn how to control her heart and her magic. Yami, like Beauty, helps Charlotte do this by being himself and also not putting up with the curse in general like how Beauty doesn’t put up with the Beast’s rudeness. 

So in a way their grimmoires really do provide magic that helps facilitate such a story.

For me it’s not that they are being made center stage that makes people upset, I’m all for more inclusive stuff, but the “when it fits a woman” line wasn’t exactly going to land well with people because we inclusivity does not require bashing on anything straight, white or male, otherwise you are no better then the people who actually are against diversity

Now see, the problem I have with that, is that the line is totally innocent when you don’t over-analyse it. It’s a corny line that’s been used a dozen times in other media though slightly varied in phrasing. And it’s basically just saying, “it’ll be perfect when it fits me because I plan on using it” which is 100% harmless and cool.

Now if she had said something that actually trashed Batman or she was actually acting like it was useless because it fit a man, then I’d get it. But simply being pro women doesn’t mean anti men, and yet people act like that’s what the show is doing. How many times has a show or film been pro female or put some emphasis on female power, and people have acted like it’s somehow diminishing men for it.

Okay have you heard of an “if they met earlier” type AU I found a post on Pinterest with little kid Asta and Noelle and I was just thinking, what if Acier’s last wish was to separate Noelle from the corrupted world of nobles, everyone thinks Acier’s last child died with her, Nozel is the only one that knows, he even chose Hage because there is no way she can find her way back to the capital and 16 years later he sees her in the crowd of commoners at the magic knights entrance exam

This is a REALLY cute idea for the Astelle side of it for one, but also really interseting because

Hage is the hotspot for abandoning royal children apparently

Asta now has TWO super-talented secret-royal childhood friends to compete with

Noelle will definitely get into the Silver Eagles, even if she sucks probably, because Passive Aggressive Sibling Bonding

Nozel will NOT be the only one to recognize Noelle at the entrance exam

SOMEONE is eventually going to call out Noelle on looking so much like a Silva and she will have absolutely no explanation

You know if Dorothy didn’t blow what he truly means out of proportion she could be Nozel’s emotion translator like he’ll say something with a disapproving face and Dorothy will translate it to something a bit too emotional
