Would you mind explaining the crab meme? I have no idea what it is or where it came from
oh sure! On April fool's day this year, desktop Tumblr had this huge board of switches, buttons, and widgets. There was one that made your whole screen look like it was covered in dirt and you could clean it with a sponge it was great.
But! the important one for us now is the Crab widget! One of the buttons was this cursive Summon Crab button and when you clicked it a single crab emoji would spawn on your desktop. Even if you closed the other widgets the crab would roam your screen and put little comments about whatever it was hovering over.
If you ran your mouse over it enough the little hover text would read "friend <3" and if you did it more it would say "love <3" and follow your mouse. If you clicked them you would catch them and get money. You could then click one button to post a textpost of emojis of every crab you spawned (crab emoji), made friends with (crab followed by flower), bewitched with your beauty (crab followed by heart), or caught (bag of cash).
Tumblrinas of course clicked this button as many times as possible flooding their dashes with crabs and making it basically unusable lol
and now you can send 24 hours of crabs to a blogger of your choosing for like 3 USD
