Astra Grimsbane hated to lose. It didn’t matter whether it was a simple guessing game or a massive competition. She was not a graceful loser, which was why she would do anything to avoid it; that was including cheating. She had no qualms against using her strengths to help her win, even if they weren’t totally fair. She was actually excited about the rides, but it was the games that really pushed her buttons. It’s how she found herself standing in front of a booth with balloon darts, trying for the sixth time to win the plush snake hanging among the other prizes. It was no longer fun, and she wasn’t playing by the rules anymore. Using her magic, as soon as the dart left her fingers, she lead it to hit the balloon she needed, doing the same with the darts that followed. When the person running the game accused her of cheating, she continued with the use of magic. Taking the plush snake down with magic, she let it wrap around her shoulders before controlling the darts to point at the person. “You really shouldn’t accuse me of cheating, it’s not a good idea. Now, I believe a congratulations is in order.” Astra turned, the darts dropping to the ground as she moved to walk away, only to come face to face with one of Northknot’s other residents. She could see the look on their face, obviously seeing the whole thing. “What? I wanted the snake and just used my skills to get it. They make these games too bloody hard.”
