MX-39 Astral Viper

A lot of references and inspirations went into this build funny enough. It started as my attempt at a direct version of a Mars Mission Raid VPR from Space Police III

However as cute as that ship is I wanted the MM version to be a little bigger, a little heftier. The more I added on, the more it started to look like a legitimate Vic’s Viper, a style of moc popularized by an AFOL named Nnenn, who is sadly no longer with us. The Raid VPR and some other sets actually pay direct homage to Nnenn’s building style, and you can see some Vic’s Vipers made by Nnenn here.

Coincidentally the dropped swooped forward wings and the three engines also reminds me heavily of the F-302 interceptor from Stargate:

Week 5

Welcome to NoVVember, NoVVember is the month when AFOL’s who like space build Vic Vipers.  A Vic Viper is a starfighter inspired from the Gradius games. In my opinion Vic Vipers were made popular in the Lego community from the efforts of nnenn and peterlmorris. Two “big wheels” in the Lego Space community. So this week we will concentrate on Vic Vipers Starting off the week I will post several posters from the years past. as the eek continues I will feature some of my favorite Vic Vipers. We’ll see how I feel at the end of the week, maybe well do some more.
