Happy WBW! Okay, honestly I'm getting a little crazy with this one, but I think it's fun. Two of your worlds collide! Whether it be time periods or genres or just two different high schools, how do they mesh? Pretend it's a little worldbuilding activity and picture me kicking my feet in excitement while you work. 🥰

Ouuh, this is fun!

Since I now finally have a big, non-DnD WIP with more complex world building (Hooray!), let the worlds of NNINBF and Starchaser collide!

The basic premise of Starchaser is simple - it’s the story of normal humans that get kidnapped into space.

The basic premise of NNINBF is simple too - how would a standard high-fantasy setting look like in modern times?

So first of all - the cast of characters would be a lot more diverse. In Starchaser, the humans are kidnapped from all around the globe. Scotland. Japan. Italy. The Americanas. But if we assume that the people that are being kidnapped are from Terra (the alternative earth from NNINBF. Very creative, I know), we would only have a handful of humans. We would have space Elves. Space Orcs. Space Dwarfs. And other stuff!

For the few species that are prominent both in space and on Terra, the meeting would be quite fun - especially the Lizardfolk. On Terra, they’re generally regarded as uneducated hillbillys, in Space, they’re one of the most respected and liked folk and generally known for being wise and intelligent. (Well… except for this guy maybe).

Happy WBW! What is the transportation like in your world?

I haven't really thought about that, to be honest. Most of the time,the PCs get around by plane, because I'm a big aeronautics nerd.

In Sillecon Valley (which is the location where the seat of the presidency is on this alternative world), you basically just have a bunch of monorails and stuff. Anything that looks cool.

And lasty - any Wizard has a special connection to their familiar. Which... Is a type of vehicle for them. The history behind that is that many wizards in the past used to have a horse as a familiar (cause y'know. Enchanted horse. Good for long travles) and stayed with them being a method of transportation after cars were invented.

Anything that applies to the rule of cool basically ;)

Happy WBW! In honor of the pain bestowed upon me by the Blood Goddess 🙃, what is your world like in relation to sicknesses, injuries, and other afflictions? Feel free to discuss the medical system or how jobs/institutions respond, or even how individual characters feel!

Hi Tori! Thanks for the ask! (I'll get back to the others ones too... They're still in my drafts... And once I find the time...)

Technically, everything should be able to be healed magically... But that's not how it works.

Being a high-fantasy version of our world, Nothing New in New Big Falls also sometimes mirrors whatever we have - mages qualified to instantly heal people are rare and if you wanna be healed by one - well, you better pay them a good sum of money!

Another important thing to pay attention to would be curses. Curses can be treated by normal medicine, but they never really go away - they can only be removed by the person taht actually placed the curse.

One of the PCs has a grandma that is permanently hospitalized due to being cursed within her work as a bounty-hunter.

And while the NPC that cursed her is very much still alive - he's immortal - the players have admittedly given him a much cureler fate than death, which is why I don't belive that little ol' Granny will have her curse lifted soon :(

Happy WBW! What species of your world I'd wrongfully demonized? Rightfully demonized? Reclaimed by a bunch of mentally ill kids as their favorite because they relate to the way it's treated?

Thanks for the ask! Hm… This is a tough one. I’d probably have to say the Lizardfolk!

Lizardfolk used to be demonised a lot, since they’re literally ‘cold blooded’ and were often accused of eating other, sentient beings. This, of course, is not the case, but it is a bias that stuck with the species for a long time.

They’re absolutely fine at the current point in time, though!

Happy WBW! Today's is incredibly niche, but what does your world's gratitude look like? Are large acts of thanks required or scorned? Do most people find it polite to express thanks? Or, if that's a little much, how about your characters? What are their feelings toward giving and receiving gratitude?

I don’t think gratitude is too different in NBF - not from our world, at least - but it mostly depends on the culture.

The dwarves, for example, are very big into returning favours and giving you presents as a gratitude. Halflings will become fiercely loyal, wether for their own good or not.

And dragons… They become like big cats. If a dragon is grateful to you, you basically have a friend for life… That you can also occasionally pet behind the ears if you whish.

Happy WBW! What kinds of ghost stories exist in your world? What kind of tales are kids spinning around a campfire? Are they true?

To a certian degree, all Ghost Stories in the world of NNINBF are true - this is because essentially, the magic system relies on the concept of 'if enough people belive in it, it exists'.

That being said, there is a story for young dragons that if they behave badly, another dragon will come snatch them away and put them in a school with strict rules and no sweets.

This story IS true.

Happy WBW! For Spooky Season, what's something creepy about your world? (Creepy up for interpretation. 🙃)

Hi there! And thanks a lot for the ask!

I would love to say that my DnD-world is all happy-go-lucky and that I‘m a merciful DM towards my players… But I‘m not. And I‘m too much of a horror-enthusiast to not include some things that are at least slightly creepy :)

Since my Dnd-world is based of our planet earth, there is also a fantasy-equivilant to Las Vegas: A big city with a lot of lights and slot machines and a generally big energy-waste. However, this version of Las Vegas doesn't use conventionl methods of getting energy. Underneath the city, there is a whole power-plant that is dedicated to sucking out the life-energy of all the people who have fallen into debt due to gambeling and have no way of leaving the city/earning money. And that's how this big place of ham is powered! Fun, right? ;D

Happy WBW! In honor of Idalia and her looming approach on the SouthEast US, what is the most dangerous natural threat to your world?

'Natural Threat' is a hard word for the world of NNiNBF, because, as I mentioned previously, everything is magical and most things can be prevented. However, if they count, I would name three things:

-Dragons. Those things are generally the most powerful mortal beings and they can stir up shit pretty hard if they desire to.

-The gods. Espeically Mirage, the god of coincidence who, as the name suggests, is a complete wildcard that has literally wiped out an entire ancient civilization of old elves because they 'felt like it lol'.

-The president of the United States, who I mentioned previously. I mean... He is a human so he is 'natural' and he is a controll-obsessed maniac that uses pidgeons to spy on the public so... that might count.

Though, for 'real' natural desasters - as the geography and astronomy of Terra is almost identical to planet Earth, I'd say that they of course count as well.
