ASTER REINHART, who strongly resembles BOB MORLEY, is more commonly known as DRYAD. They are a TWENTY-SEVEN year old MUTANT and they have been in the city for THREE YEARS. DRYAD has been known to have PLANT MANIPULATION. While they are not DRYAD, they are working their day job as a HISTORY TEACHER in CERES CENTROPOLIS HIGH SCHOOL. the basics
the only uncontrollable aspect of aster’s power is that plants bloom and become healthy around him, and so he was able to live a *normal* life and attend a highly ranked university
however, while studying history he was subjected to so much mutant hate that he turned in on himself and it was only the words of one kind professor that kept him going
with his diploma in hand, he decided that he had to do something to help the next generation become more understanding. and so he teaches history in an attempt to help create a more informed generation than the people he was surrounded with
his parents only took notice of him when he achieved something, they would be the first to pose with him and his school project, despite the fact that neither of them helped and didn’t know he had a school project to begin with
when he left for college they didn’t notice the degrading health of all their house plants. even now they still think he’s teaching at an ordinary public school because that’s what he told them and they never thought to check
he is an only child, and didn’t have many friends growing up because he was so focused on doing well so his parents would notice him that he didn’t have time
the mutation
while peaceful, aster can manipulate plants in a way that they can become violent. vines can restrain people and strong roots can cause real damage but he still doesn’t know the full extent of his power. he’s never had to fight with it
but he does feel connected to plant life, flowers will lean towards him while he’s lost in thought and wrap around his arms as if in comfort
because of this he sometimes struggles with the human connection, but he will always put the effort in just to feel like he’s more than just the ‘plant gay’ - a nickname given to him by some of his students
after a heavy use of his power the tips of his fingers turn green. they usually change back by the next morning because the longest period of time aster won’t use his power is when he’s asleep
he’s also the chillest eco warrior you’ll ever meet, he knows all the facts but won’t start ranting if he can tell you’re not into it. and will only truly go off with people he’s comfortable with

he loves history because he loves knowing the story of how mankind got to where they are now. he can trace prejudices back to the random idiot who started each one, and remembers the figures who broke them all down
he never planned to be a “hero” if that’s what they were going to call him. but he’d never in his life been able to stop himself from stepping in the middle of a fight, even when all he did was take the punches
he still doesn’t really know how to fight, his vigilante antics so far consist of hiding and tripping people up, but he’s trying
unlike most teachers, you won’t find him in his office, you’ll have to scan the whole grounds if you want to track him down. he’s almost always outside, sitting under the oldest dearest oak, and muttering to either himself or the tree, he’s never quite sure

joan of arc is his hero and he won’t let anyone get two words in if they try to insult her
he thought he might be gay in high school, didn’t have any luck figuring it out in college, but once he got to valoir he smoothed himself out and is 100% willing to help any students exploring their sexuality, although he’s not sure he’ll be much help
wears glasses but almost always looses them and is too awkward to say when he can’t see anything so just pretends that everything’s fine
