Prompt 3 - Layout
Wolfstar, March 3, word count 274
Previous part First part
Sirius shivered, the sun had disappeared a while ago and the air kept getting colder and colder. He’d been able to see his breath for a while, but now it was gone and that couldn’t be a good thing.
He guessed he’d been lost for about four hours, but his phone had run out of battery as he’d tried in vain to get even a trickle of signal. He was moving at least, and he prayed it was in the right direction.
The sun had been in front of him when James had taken them into the woods, so he’d turned his back to it and headed in the opposite direction. He must have got turned around somehow, because there was no way he should have still been in the forest. He’d looked at the layout of the forest on Google Maps when Remus had been at work after they’d been to Lily’s birthday/engagement party, so he had a rough idea of where to go. He was getting tired now, but that was one thing he knew not to do: don’t fall asleep. He had to keep walking.
He didn’t know when it had happened, but he’d stopped shivering. His arms and legs felt like lead, and he was so confused about which direction he was heading in. But he couldn’t stop. Surely he would come out of the trees at some point.
Sirius stumbled. He didn’t know if it was over a tree root or his own numb feet, but the ground felt so inviting. His eyelids began to droop and as hard as he fought it, he began to fall asleep.
