So, I found this video on Facebook (unfortunately, because I know you can't see it if you don't have Facebook), I can't find it anywhere else, but it's from "Smosh") and so hear me out:
Bruce Wayne, a millionaire bachelor who enters and exits a complicated relationship with Selina and who does not fall in love easily or have crushes, finds himself going alone to Commissioner Gordon's retirement party (or a wedding to some friends or whatever)
Obviously, there's the +1 as an invitation, and since he hasn't been seen around with Selina for a while, everyone on earth seems intent on introducing him to someone.
Bruce would have no problem finding someone to bring, but that would also mean always being charming, smiling, and listening to conversations he cares little (or nothing) about.
Instead, by paying (and Bruce has no problem with money), he could have the perfect partner for the evening, he wouldn't have to do anything to entertain them, and in the end, they could shake hands and go their separate ways.
So Bruce calls the most expensive escort service (which guarantees anonymity) and ends up with Clark as his partner.
(Is Clark working as an escort to pay for his master's degree? His apartment? Food? Multiple choice decision. What's more, sex is not mandatory in the contract.)
Clark is intelligent, good-looking, and never stops talking. Despite everything, Bruce is having the time of his life and enjoying himself with Clark, but when the evening is over, as agreed, they each go their separate ways, and Bruce is convinced that he will never hear from Clark again.
Instead, it is Clark who contacts him, not for work but to find out how things are going. To find out what he is doing and if he has any plans for the weekend. Bruce makes it clear that he does not need his services, and Clark says that he is not offering them, that he was honestly curious to know how things were going.
Bruce finds himself inviting Clark to a party he was having that weekend.
And to another, and to another.
But at some point, Bruce doesn't understand why Clark hangs out with him.
Clark doesn't ask him for money; he doesn't even ask him to go to parties full of money where he could meet other, he just often finds himself at Bruce's house watching a movie together or talking about books, and Bruce tries eating takeout pizza sitting on the floor for the first time (Alfred is horrified).
Bruce doesn't understand what Clark gets out of all this.
Because Bruce knows he's not an easy person to be around, he's stoic and doesn't express his feelings (especially not like Clark does), so he doesn't understand why Clark wants to spend so much time with him.
(It's a shame that Clark finds him the most interesting person in the world, charming in a way that almost no one else can be, showing affection not with words but with gestures, seeing how much charity work Bruce does and how much he really cares about the city he lives in, how much Bruce loves children and how interested Bruce is in what Clark wants to do in the future, and that he has never -not even once- looked down on him for the job he does. Basically, Clark was already willing to marry him by the third date.)
