Let’s get this cleared up.

Ok so I really didn’t want to have to make a post on this but I know if I don’t do something about this pent up feeling I’m getting then I know it’s just not gonna do me any good in the long run so I’m gonna get my thoughts out in this post.

So recently whilst on my general binge patrol of twitter I was scrolling when I found people bringing up how SOMEHOW if Luke and Maryse get together that somehow that’ll create another incest arc issue, for clace in particular, when I don’t think people understand just how that’s not only ridiculous but stupid as I don’t people have seriously assessed the actual situation. Now I will just clarify that I’m not saying that people who stated such things are dumb but I just think that the extent at which a number of these people seem to perpetuate this false problem (meaning there isn’t any problem/complication here) baffles me.

Look, yes Luke does consider Clary his “daughter” and Clary sees Luke as sort of the “father” figure in her life but I will emphasise something that shouldn’t be difficult to comprehend but if it hasn’t caught your attention neither Luke nor Clary are blood related but also Clary is a legal adult being 18 years old so at this point the need of a legal guardian isn’t an issue for her; so the both of them are rightfully two confident individuals on their own separate paths.

Then similarly with Maryse, yes she sees Jace as a “son” of hers and equally Jace sees her as a “mother” figure but again there’s no blood relation there so there’s no complication, plus if you’ve been keeping up with the show it’s made clear that Jace is a Herondale (even though as Dom mentioned his character will always identify as a Lightwood which is fine, but obviously Herondale is his heritage) plus Jace is also a legal adult too, presumably being either the same age or just a few years older than Clary; and both Maryse and Jace are also rightfully two confident individuals on their own separate paths.

Anyways, it remains this taboo subject which took up the end of season 1 and season 2a (which was resolved and rightly so) not only neither needs to nor should come up in season 3, but also it would be a bad move for the writers to beat this dead horse that’s already had it’s purpose for the show and is no longer relevant moving forward.
