Alright, so, the 19 year old 'prodigy child', the 'future of the sport' would make such an amazing storyline? The kid who got sent up as early as possible into the Mercedes, without having to prove his worth in f1 that get to a big team like almost everyone else?

Being the youngest world champion is quite something, yes I can admit that. It's something you should be proud of obviously.

But other then his age, what would make it so good?

"Well he won it so early on in his career!"

I got news for you buddy, there are quite a few drivers who win the championship early in their careers. Lewis hamilton nearly won it in his first. Now take in the context that he was older then kimi and he had a ton of preseason training, yeah it would be more adaptable for him to do well. But he did win it in his second year Sebastian vettel won it may in his career too, so i still don't see it.

Alright, you may not like george personally. That's fine I guess, but just because YOU don't wanna see if happen, doesn't mean it wouldn't be a great story or others don't want to see it.

George is one of the drivers that did not come from a place of wealth. His mom or dad did not race either. There was no easy way in. He sacrificed a lot and so did his parents just to get into the sport. He worked hard and he was extremely fast.

He made a PowerPoint presentation at age 15 and went up to toger to say why he wanted to join the team.

In 2018, he won the f2 world championship while fighting against some of his friends. It was a tough season of competition but in the end he came out victorious.

In 2019, until 2021, he was stuck at Williams. At this time, Williams were in some...dark years. Consistently the last two lined up on the grid, practically slower then an f2 car. Yet he did considerably beat his teammates.

He even put that Williams on the front row and got a fucking podium with that shit box.

When george was called up to do a race for Mercedes in 2021, he had the lead for a good portion of the raceand then his car broke down. His first time in a Mercedes.

Then he was finally called up to Mercedes and beat Lewis hamilton almost every single year, excpet one i believe, in the standings. He was Mr Saturday and Mr consistency.

The point being is that kimi got it all handed right up front to him. From an early age, he saw kimi and quickly added him to their driver academy. He was pulled through junior formulas rapidly (and quite honestly I think it did more harm then good for him. He didn't get time to properly learn some things. That is to blame on the team.)

Kimi has never had to fight in a shitty car in formula 1. He did not have to prove that he can just do well in a good machine. He did not get the time to learn there.

He was instantly flung into the big team.

And sure, it was a rough first season for him. But again, that is why you get sent to smaller teams first. The car wasn't the best, but it was fighting for podiums.

Kimi has the storyline of being the youngest champion.

George has the storyline of persevering. Hard work paying off.

And this year, kimi has not had any real competitors, let's be honest.

George's car can't fucking work. It only did properly in australia, but after that its had constant issues.

And is the sport about storylines? God no. It's whoever is able to drive the best. But unfortunately thats how a lot of people decide they want a season to go.

Including Mercedes amg Petronas f1 team.

It seems as though, they want that youngest champion title. It really does. Sorry to say, but the way things are going, is how it looks. And let's be honest, would that really surprise you?

Unfortunately the two of them are not in an equal position so it would be unfair to say that kimi has more potential or is having a better season when in most races (except the few where he had reliability issues. Which surprise, everyone has had!) He has had a functioning car that doesn't make you lose 2 tenths down a straight.

Without kimis age, we would never be having this conversation.

Some venting about Genshin's recent writing so move along if you don't want to read. Feel free to add your thoughts but remember to be civilised, this is just my opinion 😊

Since a few days I have been seeing lots of posts on Genshin twitter criticizing the writing and portrayal of certain characters, namely- Jean, Varka, Neuvilette, and a few others. And can I just say I'm so glad this fandom is finally waking up and realising how shallow Mihoyo's writing has become when it comes to bringing back old characters?? Like sure, it's a gacha and it's tough to keep old characters relevant but like, at least write them correctly??

Jean's criticism was so valid and it's something I have felt for years but I always brushed it aside thinking it's not so deep but with Varka being finally back it just doesn't sit right anymore. The way she keeps getting reduced to being a killjoy and is essentially being taken advantage of to do extra work, especially when she herself knows she is an overworker and tries to do better?? Free my Jean she doesn't deserve this😭

On this note, I also want to highlight Liyue's bad writing. Their entire theme was of mortals living without Morax and Adepti but for a few years we are getting barely any development in that regard and almost every new Liyue character is an Adepti, especially now with Zibai. We still don't know more than half of the Qixing but we know more Adepti who will very likely become playable characters. Also, isn't it strange we don't have a playable character from the Millelith??? Like how??

Adding on, the existing Qixing are also stagnant- like Ningguang and Keqing. Keqing essentially gets reduced to doing clerical tasks every lantern rite while Ningguang barely gets any screentime after her prime in 2.4.... Ningguang is supposed to be the de facto leader of Liyue yet she's not connected to bigger plots that will eventually happen. I'm personally not a fan of how her every appearance is just an eye candy scene with Beidou. Regardless of me not shipping them, it just feels so shallow to not see Ningguang do more in the story cause she has so much potential and I really want to see her in her prime mode again.

On a more positive note, I actually really like the mixology event! I know most of the community seems to hate it cause it's long but I honestly appreciated seeing those characters and talking with them in detail. I'm certainly biased towards Lisa content but genuinely it felt so good to talk with her and know a little more + set up a date 🤭🤭 Eula, Clorinde and Emilie were also great to interact with! Clorinde and Emilie really needed to get out and be put in different scenarios. So overall, even tho it was dragged out I do appreciate the content itself and hope to see more of such events but executed better😊

There are several criticisms for Genshin's writing but I felt like talking about this cause it was surprising to see the larger fandom also becoming aware of this and actually speaking out on it

I have a theory about Stancy Vs. Jancy viewership preferences

ok i think i have a theory, but i'm not sure until I start typing it out...

It's not necessarily about taking a side to try to make a side look better or worse... I'm not trying to start anything.

To be clear, this post might lean toward my preference (Stancy), because I DO have my preference (it's Staaaaancyyyyy), and I do personally feel like this theory might explain why I believe in Stancy Supremacy, but that's not the point. It might just as well be why another person goes for Jancy if they believe differently.

Like I was saying, this is just about a theory. This is all very "thought popped in my head let's see if it means anything." And I also haven't re-watched the series in a while, so I want to know if I'm on to something or if I'm just running on ~vibes at 11 p.m.

So here it is:

Whether you ship Stancy Or. Jancy may have to do with whether you prefer A Nuanced Showing Vs. a Direct Telling in your romantic pairings. Of course, both ships have both methods. You need both. But I think Pro-Stancy leans toward showing while Pro-Jancy leans towards telling.

First of all, let me throw aside the characters of Eddie and Robin or Dustin (on Team Stancy) and Murray (on Team Jancy) or Barb (anti-Stancy). Opinions expressed by other characters are not really what I'm getting at here.... Although maybe you could tie this theory into that somehow.

Perhaps you could speculate that Eddie or Dustin were commenting based on what they'd observed between Steve and Nancy (e.g. "unambiguous sign of true love" and "you threw yourself at Nancy"), whereas Murray and Barb tell Nancy how she should feel. (e.g. "We don't love Steve" and "This isn't you")... but I know that might be stretching the butter too thin for this toast.

What I am talking about is the interactions between characters.

Stancy viewers are not drawn purely to what is said, but we will prioritize what is seen or felt even if it seemingly contradicts what is said. We don't think what a character says is always completely credible or reliable. Steve and Nancy's relationship is not so much about what they say, but in other context--how it's said, why it's said, what is left unsaid, or what they do, showing how they feel through other means.

In fact, Nancy can say it's all BS, but we see her look of regret when Steve walks off. She can say "Steve Harrington, you're an idiot" but we see her smile. She can say she is fine, but we notice her look of relief when Steve shows up at the end. We can hear Nancy say her nuclear family is all just BS, but what we see is not a girl who hates marriage and family, but a girl who doesn't want to be stuck in a loveless marriage with an apathetic husband and no other meaning to her life and we see her smile at Steve's dream. And Steve can tell Robin he's moved on... but we see Steve's gaze linger on Nancy a little to long when she's not looking. He can say that he is just Nancy's friend, and he may even try to mean it sincerely... but we know her approval is all he needs when we see him look at her and floor it through the portal in pursuit of the demogorgon.

We prioritize rhese subtle clues that indicate more than meets the eye. This is also why many Stancy fans pick up on the signs that Nancy is unhappy with Jonathan. (Although, I don't think the clues are that subtle at this point. LOL.)

Meanwhile, Jancies don't play that game or read between the lines as much. They start from a point of what is said or expressed directly and literally. And then, after listening to the characters, a Jancy shipper is going to prioritize that and contextualize what they see secondly. Jancy have been together for 2-3 years, so even though see can see some rough patches, as long as they say they are fine, they are. They say that they care about each other, and they do. So if Jonathan says he wants to propose, but the timing isn't right, then that's going to be the reason why we see him acting uncertain. He says he loves her and doesn't want to lose her, so when we see him act jealous, it's not insecurity, but indignation at Steve's behavior. Nancy has not said that she doesn't love Jonathan. Nancy has said that she is happy to see him. So if she acts avoidant, and explains that she was glad Jonathan wasn't around in season 4 it's because of the reason she gives... and when Nancy said that her parents relationship was BS, and then that Steve was BS too, that meant that she obviously would not want the life Steve describes and would never be open to such a thing unless she states that she has clearly changed her mind. So later when we see Steve accidentally touch her hand, it's because she is uncomfortable with Steve himself. Because for a Jancy fan, you take what the character says first as the clearest expression of how they feel. Then any quirks that you see will be explained through that lens.

I am also aware while writing this that a lot of it has to do with perception of intentions. If you believe Steve has good intentions, but Jonathan's are selfish, or vice versa— if you believe Jonathan has good intentions, but Steve's are selfish— then of course you are more likely to take one side over the other.
