Why is “paraphilia” a bullshit psychology term? If it just means abnormal sexuality, which does exist. For example pedophilia is abnormal, and we shouldn’t be normalizing it. Normal/healthy and abnormal/unhealthy do exist, not everything is good or normal.
Exactly for the reason I said! "Abnormal sexuality" is not only a completely useless term but it pushes the idea (which you seem to believe) that "normal" means good and "abnormal" means bad.
Normal is a math term! It's about averages! Not about what is good or bad in your moral view. "Normalizing" something just means making it more common, that's it! It does not mean viewing it as healthy, good, or anything else. It is a neutral term.
Sure, there are less common sexualities. But why the fuck would we need a label for that? And paraphilia isn't even often used just to describe whether something is "less common", it's used to judge whether something is a "bad/wrong/weird" sexuality according to society's standards and needs to be "fixed".
Hence why things like homosexuality, transsexuality and autogynephilia fell under that umbrella. It's a bigoted psych term and always has been. Stop using them! And they're not even properly separated from things like intrusive thoughts/urges, it's fucking useless on so many different levels.
Not to mention, hello, throwing out "unhealthy" to mean "bad and must stop" is ableist in of itself. Plenty of people do not meet the standards of "health", and?
Tbh, I could go on but I'll leave it at this and if you have anymore questions, lemme know.
