Years watching TLJ and only today I realized that Kylo didn’t tell Rey she was sold directly for drink, but for money that was used to buy drink. What The Rise of Skywalker brings is honestly not an incoherent retcon, because you can say it was Kylo’s assumption they used the money to buy drink, when they actually used for something else. 

I believed they bought a ship  or rare components to fix their ship and they never told Unkar why they needed the money in the first place, because it’d lead to more and more questions and they didnt want to have anyone raising questions about them.
