Bad dates

Today I went on yet another bad date. Now I by no means believe that men should have to pay for your meal but I always think it is polite when they offer. Instead we had no offer, which okay fine whatever but dont proceed to talk about how cheap you are and how you wont order anything on the menu that exceeds 8 dollars, okay I get it I'm paying for myself relax, didnt know my 9 dollar meal was so high end. Then the date continues to be exceedingly dull. He speaks only in a monotone there is lots of times where he is just silent and so I'm thinking maybe he just needs to relax. I tell some Fun stories try some sarcastic banter. Nope he is still just as dull as ever. Monotone, boring stories, useless trivial information doesnt know when to stop or start talking. Yet at the end of this date I'm thinking I'm going to have to go out with him again arent I? but then I stop myself and remember I dont owe this guy shit! Nope no! I'm not going to put myself through that again, bad first date means no second date. I shouldnt feel obligated to spend my time with anyone I dont want to. I think this is a good thing for us all to remember. You dont owe a guy anything whether he pays for you or not you owe him nothing. It is your body and your time to choose what to do with. Dont feel guilty over not being interested. Shut him down and move on with your life because you're the one that matters. You dont owe anyone anything. End rant.

Accidentally sent a screenshot of my rubbish conversation with George (one word answers, maybe he’s just not that into me) to him. Mortified.

So I texted him to apologise, and then asked him why he hadn’t asked me out. Apparently I was ‘too intense’ and he was ‘busy’. Which inevitably makes me feel absolutely awful and questioning everything else I’ve ever done. Sigh.

Confidence inducing

During fellowship, I went on a date with an ER intern from another hospital.

He kept telling me stories about patients who came into the ED with acute issues related to my subspecialty, and how he’d managed them.

Not_Clooney: … baller, right?  I bet I totally saved that guy.

Brunette_IM_Subspecialist:  Actually, it sounds like what you did was kind of reckless.  How did he end up doing?

Not_Clooney:  How would I know?  He was admitted. I never saw him again.

Brunette_IM_Subspecialist: Ok… I’m still trying to understand, what made you decide to do that?
