Occasional reminder that this blog does not support ship bashing of any kind. Stay respectful everyone. “Don’t like, don’t read is” is the motto of the year 💚💚💚
What is below the cut is a list of some extra headcanons (+ Relationship Dynamic Headcanons) for MDZS.
FOREWARNING! I do not ship bash, nor do I tolerate it. If your opinions on ships and their relating dynamics differ from mine, that's okay! I may have ships of my own that I prefer to be romantic, while you may think the opposite, and vise versa. THAT IS PERFECTLY NORMAL. Just, for the love of the gods, do not bash the ships. They are fictional characters, who cares that much?
It is rather short as of now, but hopefully that will be rectified! if you have any ideas or headcanons of your own that you wish to add, please feel free to say them!
Extra Headcanons
The stronger your cultivation level, the more you are able to do that others may not realize is possible. For Example, if a cultivator’s spiritual power is high enough, they can make their spiritual weapon turn into a tattoo somewhere on their body.
The Sect Leader outfits are like those of the game version, or at least more intricate than how they are perceived in canon.
Cultivators are known to have very long lifespans, long enough to where someone in their 90s would be considered young. The longest a cultivator (who wasn’t immortal) lived was recorded to be 328 years old.
Relationships (Romantic/Platonic)
Wangxian (One-sided(?) → Romantic)
[...]
Xicheng (Platonic → Romantic)
[...]
Zhuiling (Romantic)
[...]
SangCheng (Romantic → Platonic)
They had developed a crush on each other during their time at the Cloud Recesses but only acted on those feelings in a moment of shared grief after Wei Ying’s death. They dated for a few years but ended up ending things when Huaisang became too distant after his brother’s death. They still ended up staying friends, though, and later became sworn brothers.
Being sworn brothers was not intended to be a secret, but they also never said anything about it (but they also didn’t hide it either, people were just either completely blind to it, or thought they started dating again).
Xiyao (Romantic(?) → Enemies(?))
They had feelings for one another, but unlike Sangcheng, they never fully acted on them, as Lan Huan was a sect leader and Meng Yao was (for a little while) only classified as the “son of a prostitute” by others. The way their relationship was shown to others only became closer when Meng Yao was publicly/formerly accepted into the Jin Clan and became Jin Guangyao.
There was a time when they were in a “situationship” of some sort, but it never got any further than that as Jin Guangyao was quick to put an end to anything since he was set to marry Qin Su (his sister 🤢) in the coming months.
During the following years, Lan Huan never completely lost feeling for the other until the events at Guanyin Temple happened and Jin Guangyao’s masterplan was revealed in front of all of them.
Jin Guangyao has a hard time determining his exact feelings for Lan Huan. He can’t entirely say that he was in love with him, but he can admit that he did have feelings for him, even if it was only a small amount and lasted for not even a year
Jin Guangyao knew of Lan Huan’s feelings for him and used them for his benefit.
Zhancheng (Rivals(?) → Familial/Platonic)
While they were younger in the Cloud Recesses, they felt as if they had to compete against each other for the attention of Wei Ying, so in consequence, they didn’t like each other too much.
During the three months that Wei Ying was gone and they went on all of those search missions together for him, they began to get closer.
When Lan Zhan was out of his (forced) seclusion, he asked Jiang Cheng for help in order to raise a child (Lan Huan bugged him about asking the Sect Leader since they were both single parents and similar in age). He was reluctant about it at first because of the falling out they had during the Burial Siege, but they started to get closer after a few months.
Jiang Cheng knew immediately that “Lan Yuan” was actually Wen Yuan, but he didn’t say anything about it.
During the times when both Lan Huan and Lan Zhan would be away on official business, Jiang Cheng would be the one to take care of Lan Yuan if the boy couldn’t go with the Twin Jades. While the boy was at Lotus Pier, he was taught to swim and had small playdates with Jin Ling (as well as following Jiang Cheng like a little duckling all around YunmengJiang).
After being given a few days to calm down and really think about the ending of Naruto......I've come to accept it for what it is and leave it at that. And by this, I do not mean I am HAPPY with the ending....I just mean I'm going to try and stop being so angry about it.
I've come to realize that, while I was in insane denial (as were many people), I think we all knew NaruHina was going to be endgame here. I mean, the signs were there from the very beginning and even I, as a SasuNaru/NejiHina shipper, have accepted it and even grown to love their little family. I am not anti-NaruHina but I envisioned them each with someone different so no matter how much I love Hinata and Naruto as individuals and no matter how blatant the NaruHina signals were, I always tried to brush the ship off. I truly do now believe Kishi always intended for them to be together and I can accept that and even come to love them together given a bit more time.
The one thing I refuse to accept about this "new Naruto" though, is the way he treated his son. I understand that with age comes maturity and certainly Naruto has matured since he went on a vandalizing spree when he was 12. But no matter how much Naruto matured, he always maintained that playful side of himself, that mischievous jokester that we've all come to know and love. That was one of the huge reasons I, and I'm sure countless others, came to love him so much.
Naruto was endearing, gentle, compassionate, and above all, a character worth respect. To see him now turn into this very serious Hokage who seemingly ignores his son's cry for attention and doesn't even crack a smile at Bolt's identical pranks, is very sad and disheartening. The Naruto I know would have laughed or at least chuckled and scooped his son up in his arms, given him the world's warmest hugs and reassured him that he would make more time for him and then invite him into the Hokage meeting. I don't know who this new Naruto is and I honestly, don't really want to.
Now, onto the whole Uchiha family....yeah, I will never accept that. Ever. I don't care for Sakura much but I still think she deserved better than being tossed with her abusive adolescent crush for the sake of creating a "new generation". With all of Sakura's character development, I can't bring myself to believe that she would just willing throw herself back into Sasuke's arms and forgive him for everything he'd ever done or said to her and Naruto. There was too much verbal and mental abuse between them for there to ever be a healthy and loving relationship between them not to mention Sasuke never even for an instant showed romantic interest in Sakura and even stated he did not understand what she saw in him. Yeah, a chick as strong as Sakura downgrading to a guy who tried to kill her and her friends several times, called her weak, annoying, and a burden since he met her, is not believable to me.
Now, onto this whole "Sasuke is an abusive father" thing...I'll admit that I bought into that at first. I was so angry that SasuSaku actually happened that I was willing to listen to anyone who hated it as much as I did but now....I can't bring myself to agree to that. Sasuke is NOT an abusive father or even an abusive husband. How can you possibly say he is abusive? All that was shown was him wandering in the woods, for all we know, he could have been on a mission (as all ninja parents must be pulled away sometimes to go on missions...someone's got to pay the bills after all) or, he may have been just taking a leisurely stroll. The possibilities are endless but none of them have to do with him being abusive towards his daughter or wife.
Sasuke valued family above all else, his entire goal was to have a family even when he was just a child himself, to think he would ABUSE the family he had so desperately wanted is not something I could ever envision him doing. I don't believe Sasuke would harm his own children. Ever.
Now....aside from my thoughts on SasuSaku totally being ridiculous and ruining both characters' development...well...what more is there to say about that?
The next thing I wanted to address is kind of backtracking. I wanted to talk about NaruHina, NaruSaku, and Sasuke....yeah, back to ships.
While I totally understand and accept NaruHina......I personally think NaruSaku would have made far more sense! I don't ship NaruSaku, rather I despise it actually but.....IT WOULD HAVE MADE FAR MORE SENSE!
We all know how Naruto felt about Sakura from the very beginning and we see plenty of times where Sakura reciprocates those feelings....like....countless times. The two had a mutual respect for each other and a love for each other which was arguably romantic. They spent more time together than anyone else and the fact that NaruSaku didn't happen is a great injustice, I think, to the relationship they both shared.
I always envisioned, if I had to, NaruSaku or NaruHina becoming reality and Sasuke simply ending up alone as a wanderer (or dead tbh). In my mind, there was no way I could ever see Sasuke being ROMANTICALLY involved with anyone, and yes that includes Karin and Naruto (because I am speaking of reality here, not my fantasy where both Naruto and Sasuke are madly gay for each other)
A factor in this was also that I could never see Sasuke being willingly accepted back into Konoha after everything he'd done. There was just no way I saw this happening. I ALWAYS, from the moment he left Konoha, saw him becoming a wanderer or being killed by Naruto in the end. The fact that he got off with a firm scolding by Kakashi and absolutely NO consequences for his actions....what? Last I checked, no matter what you do to make amends, if you kill people, destroy villages, and aid criminal organizations, YOU ARE STILL TO BE PUNISHED! The fact that he got off with nothing and no one protested.....unrealistic to the max.
Basically....I don't want to be angry anymore with this ending. I am accepting it as the rushed piece of work it was and dealing with it in my own way (by reading gay fanfiction and forgetting both Sakura and Hinata exist for a while)
I'm devastated Naruto is over and even more saddened by the type of ending it received but I'm just going to try and move on. I will always love Naruto, that will never change. But I will try to flush this ending "Naruto" from my mind and always remember Naruto as the number one hyperactive knuckleheaded ninja that I grew up with.
Sometimes I think about how the Writers of Supernatural keep distancing Dean and Cas and I wonder why and one thing I keep thinking is they're trying to get us to see them platonically and stop shipping it. Oh how that is the wrong way to go about it, because distance makes the struggle to stay together even more romantic. Silly Writers all you can do now is except it and make it Canon. Cause we'll never stop shipping it.
