And we conclude the second chapter with our main X-Force fighters dramatically watching Erik escape into the desert. Not knowing how much they’re going to become attached to this wonderful idiot later on. Bless them in their ignorance.

The sand is trying to eat him. Of course it is. He’s having that sort of day, apparently.
Don’t you just hate days like that?
Poor Erik has no idea that this rivalry between him and the sand is far from over.

It changes hands many times throughout the story. And it’s interesting, to make note of who currently has possession of it at the end of chapter 13.
