I cannot say enough good things about the show yesterday. I knew it was going to be amazing but didn't expect for it to be as fantastic as it was. Mateo, who was Evan, was so good. His voice is incredible, his Evan was charming and relatable. (Stand-out scene: The speech.) Talia, who was Zoe, was fantastic. Her voice, her emotion. As a person who doesn't usually feel any sympathy for Zoe, she made her much more relatable and it made me much more empathetic towards her. (Specifically during "Requiem". Just an incredible performance.) Gaten, as Jared, was just perfect. So funny, his voice is incredible, and he made Jared a more emotionally charged character (More closely reminiscent of Will Roland in the character) (Stand-out scene: Jared's "he's going to put your letter online" spiel. So good.) The parents: Larry & Cynthia were fantastic. Heidi was played by the cover, and she was incredible. She had a tear in her eye the whole show. She was fantastic. (Stand-out scenes: When the Murphy's find out Evan's letter is Evans. Heidi in So Big/So Small.) Noah, who was Connor, was a standout for me. My bar for Connor is always extremely high because he's my favorite character (arguably the most important character). Noah did not disappoint. The emotion he wore through every scene he was in, the times I didn't expect him to be emotional. Not to mention how great he sounded. (Stand-out Scene: The "How'd you break your arm, Evan" scene. The way he delivered the line "Did you fall, or did you let go?" All the tears.)
All in all, the show is incredible. The cast just keeps getting better. The small theater helps you feel like you're in the show, you're a part of Evan and all of his anxieties. The show is incredible and it breaks my heart that it is ending. If I could go again before it closes, I would.
Thanks Dear Evan Hansen for 5 amazing years 💙
