Who are your closest friends?

Lauren and Noah above all else. Rodney, Hailey, Carmen. Rose and Cain are kind of hanging there on the border because as much as I love them, I don’t get to see them as much as I’d like. When I get home, though, I’ll make sure to see them way more.

What would you do if Noah doesn't choose you back?

I’d move on with my life and support him; that’s what you do when you love someone. Above all else, I’d want him to be with someone that makes him completely happy. If that’s not me, then so be it. I will be so, so happy myself just seeing him happy.

Letter to Noah

I wish you could see the mountains here. I get to sit here, every day, in this little tiny house, and stare at them. Do you know how small they make me feel? I'm just a person, not quite hollow, full of organs. I'm still not sure how a person filled with the workings of life could feel so dead all the time, but I did. I don't anymore.

I've realized that a person can love everyone, the entire world. The second will always be as loved as the first. But loving someone is not the same as being in love. You never fall out of love. You rarely fall in love again. There is no second when it comes to being in love. There is only one.

There is only you. 

I hope your heart didn't just fall too far out of your chest, if it did at all. I'm sorry if it did. I would advise re-reading that last part again a couple of times before you keep reading, because I want you to actually read what I'm saying from this point on.

I don't just love you. I'm in love with you. Being here, away from you both, made me realize that what I feel for you is different from what I feel for Rodney. I love him because I need to. I'm in love with you because I didn't want to be. I denied how I felt about you for so long. I spent so much time shoving away thoughts about you because they weren't right; you were my best friend, and Hunter's. I couldn't love my brother's best friend. But Rodney...Rodney I could love. He was so far removed from my brother and my own life that I could easily be brave enough to open my heart. There's no denying that I love him. I love him so deeply that, for a while, I was convinced that I was in love. He needs me and he was there when you weren't, and loving him was easy. Loving someone is like breathing. You do what's necessary to say alive. You do what's necessary to keep them alive.

But being in love...that's not easy. I don't really think it's supposed to be. When you're in love, you're breathing for both people. You're fighting for two, and that's beyond brave. That's real. That's alive. So this is me choosing you. I'm not sure there was actually ever a choice, but I'm never anything less than official. 

I should note, though, that you don't have to choose me too. It wouldn't be fair of me to demand that from you. Make your choice and be one hundred percent happy about it, and I'll be happy too.
