It was far closer to the party than Gabriel cared to admit, when he realized that he still had no clue what he was going to be wearing.
A run back from Xavier’s and home to the city brought him to L Train Vintage. Searching through piles and racks of the famed Brooklyn thrift store, it was only when he’d stopped searching that something caught his eye.
A weighty, plaster skull. What are you doing here?
He lifted it from the shelf, tossed it back and forth from hand to hand.
Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him, Horatio.
Hah.
Wait.
Aw shit, Gabe, you genius.
Taking a break from his usual default costume of Jareth from Labyrinth - Stephen has opted for a more on theme costume. As the location host of the The Ghoulish Gatsby, it’s natural for him to feel a little like the titular host. Throwing a big lavish party for all the city to enjoy in his private home. Jay Gatsby, of course, threw his parties with a purpose --- a personal goal behind every action of generosity. Stephen has been notably weird, periods of time during the planning process unaccounted for. He’s appeared restless and under slept.... more than normal. When asked, he has a knowing look in his eye and says nothing more. Could he possibly be channeling Gatsby in more ways than one? His outfit in question comes in a part where Gatsby is about to put his plans into action, reconnect with Daisy and plan to steal her away from her husband and family. Stephen has added his own little embellishments. His relic, the eye of agamotto has been momentarily glamoured to appear as a small green jeweled brooch on his suit. A small chain on his jacket which are also the glamoured clasps of the Cloak of Levitation. All ready... just in case they are needed. / @nightmareonbleeckerstreet
Instead of adhering to the 1920′s theme, Peter Parker has decided to match costumes with Shuri ( @loteriias ) as Sharkboy and Lavagirl while attending the party. The two immediately wanted to collaborate, and after going through their options, decided to pick these both because of the nostalgia, and the technology Shuri could help create to go along with the outfits. Although they wouldn’t know it, the pair of “friends” matched costumes the year prior, as Han Solo and Princess Leia, which may have had an unconscious influence. @nightmareonbleeckerstreet
what is it that disturbs you ___y/n___? / week two
Nothing. Small, enclosed spaces. Drowning. Burning. The Dentist. Being trapped, getting stuck, getting shot. Isolation. Pain. Failing my Mom. Losing control, losing myself, losing respect, losing my family, losing.
It had felt, like everything coming apart. Falling away, and so easily. i didn’t get to do anything, it’s not fair. It wasn’t Gabriel’s first brush with death, but it was the freshest in his mind.
The colliding of cold metal against the side of his head, and steel curtains slammed down in front of his vision, and nothing. Alone in the dark, grasping to cling onto solid thought but unable to latch onto anything coherent. The flash of lights, the bursts of sound, the radiating pain. Terrifying pain, knocking everything out of order, a head on fire.
In the aftermath of his concussion, the knowledge that everything could be taken away, just like that, it lingered and hung about Gabriel for months. it’d all be for nothing.
A vigilante with an axe to grind against the Russian mob? A superhero stepping in to fill the shoes of those who vanished? A teenager in a homemade domino mask?
No one knows. She appeared on the streets of Bed Stuy one day after the Snap, characterized by her red arrows and purple mask. Nearly overnight, she became a local hero with a comic book store named after her. She disappeared just as quickly. Those with high enough clearance, however, may notice the new agent of SHIELD with a familiar codename.
Ever since Reginald's death, Willow was more and more inclined to try new things. Normally, she wasn't one for parties, but not only would this be her first since her father's death, but the idea of multiple universes mingling was intriguing! The 20s themed outfits were something else she wanted to try for the first time, and as a finishing touch, Grace lent Willow one of her pearl necklaces.
Despite not being used to all of this attention, the young Miss Arelette Gâtecœur felt glamourous as she poses for the cameras, like an up-and-coming starlet during the Golden Age of Hollywood. It’s blatantly clear the mutant had done her research into looking period-appropriate ; the last thing she wanted, after all, is to look like a fool while being interviewed by a fashion historian that’s bound to be among the media.
Arrie’s dress is one custom-made by the genius seamstresses over at Silhouettes and Profiles, heavily inspired by Jacqueline Gadsden's dress when she was photographed by C.S. Bull in the 20′s. It’s a daringly revealing pastel pink sequin dress, with a mostly open back, along with the addition of the infamous fringes - starting at her hips - that had ruled dance halls across the world during the 20′s. She even wears a replica necklace ; a gift from her youngest brother, with additional properties she won’t dare to reveal with anything more than a wink.
Additionally, Arelette’s hair is inspired by Anita Page’s appearance in 1928′s Our Dancing Daughters. The rest of her look however is much more modern. A variety of gold bangles adorned Arelette’s wrists. The black and rose gold satin heels, along with the matching clutch, are easily recognizable products from Ralph & Russo. The smoky pink eyeshadow, matching matte pink lipstick, and long mascara’d lashes are all staples of modern makeup. No nail polish though ; chipped polish is something of an irritant to the young mutant anyways.
The cigarette holder surprisingly comes up in a topic of conversation. Arelette has to laugh at the idea of her smoking a real cigarette. No, she assures her interviewer, the cigarette is a mere prop. Besides, she’s sure her host wouldn’t appreciate her dedication to being historically accurate otherwise.
With a shared laugh among the crowd, young Miss Arelette Gâtecœur gives the cameras a final wave before making her way inside. This was a party, after all, and she planned to spend it enjoying the company of old and new friends.
