Darcy/Spencer - My scarf’s stuck in the door of my apartment building and I can’t reach the keypad to unlock the door to the lobby, can you help me out, neighbor-I’ve-never-spoken-to-before?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darcy’s cheeks blazed hot even in the cool autumn breeze. She stepped back towards the door in an effort to loosen the scarf’s pull around her neck, but no dice.
“Shit,” she swore. Not for the first time either. “Shit, shit, shit…”
It was at that inopportune moment that who should walk around the corner? Oh, no one. Except her super hot neighbor that she’d never worked up the courage to speak to.
And now, this was going to be her first impression on him.
He stopped short when he saw her, his hair flopping a bit with the abruptness of it. His eyes widened. “Are you alright?”
“I’m a bit… stuck at the moment. Otherwise, I’m peachy!” she said, trying to smile.
“That’s a nice scarf,” he said slowly, moving forward. “It’s a little long though…”
“Yeah, I realize that now,” she said, laughing. “So do you think you could… use your code and open the door?”
“Oh, right! Right, of course, I’m sorry!” He stepped up on the stoop beside her and leaned across her body. He smelled good. Like coffee and aftershave.
He entered his code and stood back, pulling on the door. Darcy stumbled forward when the scarf released. Right into his arms.
He jumped like she’d burned him and she was no better.
“Sorry,” she said, grabbing her scarf ends and pulling them close. “Sorry about that. Thanks for freeing me.”
“No problem… no problem to any of it…” he said, taking a step back to let her pass. “Um… I’m Spencer… Reid. By the way… I kept meaning to introduce myself but never really worked up to it.”
“I’m Darcy Lewis,” she held out her hand, smiling.
He didn’t take it, just stared down at it for a long moment before looking back up at her. “Oh um… I don’t… I don’t…”
“Oh, right. Cool. Cool, cool, cool.” Darcy grinned. “No worries.”
“Sorry, I… it’s nothing personal, I just--”
“Dude. I promise. It’s fine.”
“Coffee,” Darcy repeated.
“Yeah, um… do you… do you… would you like to go get some? With me? Sometime?”
She couldn’t help but blush a little. “When are you free?”
“I’m free too. Thanks to you,” she joked, nodding at the door.
He laughed, looking down again. “I… uh… know a place.”
“Shall we?” she asked, gesturing to the sidewalk.
