Increasingly merciless, increasingly vicious, those around him becoming less and less important as, slowly, everything stops mattering to him. He has to stop them. He has to. It's his purpose. It doesn't matter anymore what he has to do, what he has to destroy in order to do it. He has to stop them, he has to protect Earthbread from them, he has to, he has to, he has to-

...and he doesn't realize that, in his violently desperate crusade, he has become the very monster he's nearly lost his mind trying to stop.
