Okay, so, since you like Saw... How do you think the gang would handle saw traps? What would be harder and what would be easier for them? Would they win and get out?
Okay first of all thank you Noel, Saw and Sunny is the crossover ever to me. I think jigsaw would be testing all of their asses. Sorry this is so long I had a lot to say.
In terms of who would do best, I’m inclined to say Charlie just because he was the only one not to give up in Chardee MacDennis 2 in the operation trap. I think he'd survive.
I think I’d closely follow him with Dee for her tolerance to all the physical comedy Kaitlin does, and sheer rage and adrenaline getting her through it. I think she survives.
Dennis after Dee for his weird control over his body and general resolve and dedication. I think he’d be slower to get to it than Charlie and Dee though, and probably think he could outsmart the trap before getting drastic with it. It's a toss up for if he survives or not.
I’m not quite sure how to place Frank, but I feel more strongly that Mac would wimp out over everyone, so that places him fourth. He’s seen shit in Vietnam (of his own doing), he’s done shit. I think he’d could stomach it, but mutilating himself would still be a stretch. In my heart I’d love to put him in the carousel trap choosing between the rest of the gang, so maybe I’d assign him in general a game like in 3 or 6 that entails him deciding on other people’s lives. Survival dependent on the actual game at hand and who's life his hands is in at the end.
And finally Mac. He talks badass but he doesn’t live up to it. I think he’d would be quick to wuss out like in Dennis and Dee find a new dad and many other such cases. I'm sorry Mac. The version of you in my head is not making it out of this.
So like previously said I would probably put frank in a longer game where he's responsible for the lives of others becaue of his history with the sweatshop but also his joining of the gang being sort of a catalyst for their schemes to get much larger in scale and generally having the money to do whatever they want has made them less grounded than they were in Season 1. Same goes about the carousel above if wanting an in-universe trap, I think he would likely save Charlie and kill Mac, leaving him to choose between his kids. Curious to see what your thoughts are on that personally since we talked a little in the server about it.
Dennis and Dee I am obsessed with putting in a trap together because I love them as twins so very, very much. For an in-universe trap, I am partial to and have a wip of them in the spike trap from Saw IV with Dee being the one that has to pull the spikes out to save her life, killing him. I really appreciate how alike Dennis and Dee are even if you don't notice at first. They parallel each other so much it would hurt me to separate them. I think for the core of any trap they would be in, the innate bond between them would have to be acknowledged, but also that it's an incredibly harmful one. I'm also a believer that Dee could be okay without Dennis, but Dennis needs Dee and I'd like that to played up as well in an ideal trap.
Dennis doesn't get his own personal trap I guess, so I'm not giving him a chance to survive. Might loop back to this later on and reblog with some additions for him. Pookie privileges.
Charlie would get the most classic trap in my mind, and also simplest in concept. I'm most drawn to something like the venus fly trap at first but I don't know if that would work as much as I like it in vibes. I think Charlie's biggest transgression is his prolonged stalking of the waitress, and so a fitting trap would be one that would take away his ability to do that. I think something eye-based would be especially fun, but the in-universe eye traps are a bit lacking for Charlie specifically. I would definitely need to think on his more.
Similarly for Mac, I'm not so sure on an in-universe fitting one I would choose. Theming wise though, I think I would want to tie it into his devotion for others despite never receiving anything back as witnessed by his parents and Dennis. You could argue putting him in the spike trap with Dennis too but I think it fits the twins a bit better and also they're my favorites so. There's definitely room for religous imagery as well, and I think it would pair well with his over devotion to others in this kind of scenario.
There's also the untapped potential of a Saw II & V situation and making them all duke it out in one long game together not realizing if they calmed down and worked together they could survive. I focused more on individual traps because that's where my mind goes but the gang is very much a gang and I think there's a lot to be explored in them together.
I think I gotta stop talking though. This is all stream of consciousness answering so it's not perfect,, but like some of my saw thoughts I hope they make sense
