Hail Zulu!
It was practically a universally known fact that New Orleans was the place to be for Mardi Gras festivities. No doubt one of the quirky city’s main annual events. Talan had definitely considered himself lucky to have experienced and been around now for 8 of them. Ok a lot of details might have been pretty blurry but remembering every single thing was not the point. Especially for these particular festivities. Maneuvering through the over-populated streets of the French Quarter once getting off the shop parade float, Talan still grabbed and caught any bead necklaces that came his way with a free hand not holding a cup in the other. “So, just take a guess. Serious question. How many beads you think I’ve got already?!” He asked a bit louder over the current crowd traffic jam to the person alongside him, gesturing towards his neck.
Grabbing a good ol’ glass of bourbon -- no ice, the way it should be drunk -- Jason tasted the familiarity of home. That was one good thing he remembered from Kentucky, and something he could always carry with him, no matter where he actually was. The party at Ritz-Carlton seemed to be an actual blast, he couldn’t remember the time he saw so many people having genuine fun. The Mardi Gras thing was obviously an uplifting time for the townees. Hearing someone next to him order a drink, Jason’s mood was affected by the general atmosphere and he opened his wallet before the person could pay for themselves. ‘’No no,’’ He shook his head. ‘’This one’s on me.’’

Pristine blue eyes, filled only with the desire for a little adrenaline and adventure, scanned the Ritz rooftop bar crowded with scintillating bodies and a spectrum of lights. Alex was admittedly a little buzzed, but not overly so. It wasn’t until he realised there was a person standing alone beside him that he finally spoke. “Major Lazer’s pretty good, huh?” His eyes then took to scanning the other in their costume, selfishly taking notice of one thing in particular. “So, how many beads you got? Because.. I’m competing with a friend of mine, Danny from Grease actually — if you’ve seen him.. see who can get more beads..” He insinuated, gesturing to the overload of beads around his neck.
“You don’t lose hope, love. If you do, you lose everything.”

The big day... she thought to herself, hero standing in front of her bathroom mirror. It was needless to say, but Grace jumped at every NOLA festivity that came her way. She wasn’t sure if it was her cry to belong but despite moving in last year, she has yet to feel like a member of the community. Pulling the pinstriped romper over her head, she patted it nicely, fixing it to her liking. She was nervous and excited, dying to get a taste of what NOLA had to offer. After grabbing her bag and sunglasses, she hopped through her shared home with Cole, slipping into her sandals, heading out the door. As soon as she stepped into the vicinity of the French Quarter, she was immediately met with a rambunctious crowd, filling the streets. Plastered with a wide smile, she passed through the sea of people, desperate to get a closer look at the floats. Coming closer to the edge of the sidewalk, Grace caught sight of a familiar figure, not thinking twice to cover their eyes from behind. “Guess who!”
