Okay, so apparently Twitter bots from Russia (or Republicans) are tweeting some more propaganda.

#NoMenMidterms and #HERstory hashtags are being pushed by obvious troll accounts.

Notice the Republican trope of using the word “Democrat” when referring to the Democratic Party (instead of Democrats with an “s” on the end). And then there’s the conservative fixation on George Soros, and LOL, “the Matriarchy”. Also, the notable usage of weaponized identity politics. (Do I even need to address the comic sans font?)

And most of the accounts pushing these hashtags have fewer than 100 followers, and are recently created (but older accounts may have been literal “sleeper” accounts).

So anyway, this is where we’re at right now. GOP bots, Russian bots and “sup guy find more here” bots spreading like crazy on social media. Please be wary of the media you consume. Some of it is propaganda.

This is probably a bad time for Republicans to be blocking funds for states to strengthen their election systems, right? I mean, it’s almost like Republicans WANT to spread misinformation and have lower voter turnout in November.

This may have started out as a “joke” on 4Chan, but it’s only gonna get worse (and more sophisticated and harder to detect) as we get closer to November.

Forewarned is forearmed ‘nstuff.

This troll account prominently features black people—paid actors or iStock photos—telling us how much they LOVE Donald Trump and hate the Democratic Party. So they “walked away.”

Walkawaycampaign also has a Facebook page and their hashtags are all over twitter.

Remember: Republicans recently voted to block additional funding for states to strengthen their voting systems to protect against hacking.

Please spread the word and most importantly, vote in November.

I hope no one’s taking this advice seriously, since it would only mean fewer Left-wing voters.  It was probably planted by Right-wing moles.  Even if the Left came up with this all by themselves, it’s still a terrible idea.
