Hi, sorry to bother you but I'm trying to find a fic! It was some sort of supernatural Shane (I'm pretty sure demon but I could be wrong) and it was set at the goatmans bridge where Ryan pours the salt circle around Shane and cuts his powers off, leaving Ryan vulnerable to attack. If this sounds familiar any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Commentary: One of my personal favorite fics in the fandom, one of the best demon Shane AUs out there. This fic has a unique narrative that makes it more fun to read since the plot works perfectly with it and it makes you keep reading until you have reached the end. Amazing fic.

Commentary: There’s something fascinating about the first fanfictions in the fandom. This one is as old as of July of 2017 and by all Gods, one of the best written and most original works I have read in the entire fandom.

It was done based on the infamous demon Shane AU before all the demon Shane AUs came out, it made Shane into an interesting character that has seen the world change and has become what the people say-- he is the result of the world’s stories about creation and the lord of the woods, nature and life.

When story starts, it allowes us as readers to understand the melancholy of Shane’s life and how much it changed once Ryan entered it. What was just a simple act, a little boy lost in the woods, becomes something that ultimately changes everything and gives Shane’s world a new meaning.

Then is Ryan’s story, how he become a man and learned the hardness of the world without losing his love for it. We see him go through terrible things that made him into the man we love, into the man Shane loves.

And honestly? Their relationship is the definition of “in love” and “mean to be”. Ryan loved Shane so much he fell for him all the time, many times, and each deeper than the other. 

But it also opens a big conflict the author knew how to handle. All of Shane’s actions can be seen a hurtful to Ryan and to us, but the auhor managed to make us understand his point of view and slowy, in just three chapters, make us forgive him as Ryan does, too.

The ending is fascinating. Because of the way the fic is told, a fantastic Non-Liner narrative that has become one of my favorites, the ending is something we discover slowly until there’s nowhere else to go. It happens to make us prolong our way to the end as much as Shane wants to, until there’s no other option.

For real, this fic is fantastic and it deserves more recognition for how original and well writen it is. You all should read it.

Commentary: When I found this fic and saw it was based on my favorite Richard Siken poem, I literally yelled. I read it so carefully, I think I have never read a fanfic like I did this and man, I can’t stop recommending it to everyone. All of it it’s glorious, both POVs are amazing and the imagery, convined with the imagery from the poem, is glorious.

Commentary: This one has a non-liner narrative that haunts me, because it’s incredibly good to the point that if you read the part of the story in order, it makes sense. Tons of non-liner narrative fanfics can’t do this, they only work if read like that, but this one actually has that nice touch. 

The story is wonderful, their conflict is very personal for both of them, and it has a happy ending, which is the most important part of it. It’s all how it starts and how it ends, to then continue in a new part of their relationship. I love it, man. It’s one of my favorite fics.

Commentary: Another one with non-liner narrative, the forman this one is wrotten in is very unique in the fandom. It tells the days Shane has known Ryan, and it shows you how their relationship has changed, how them as persons have changed. The plot is also very good, I really like the way Shane, who is a demon, is characterized in this fic. I don’t know, it’s brilliant.

Commentary: Such a sweet little fic with the 5 + 1 Things trope, very well done and written. It’s short, but damn– perfect. It’s actually one of my favorite 5 + 1 Things fic in the fandom, so I hope you enjoy it, too!

Commentary: Because this fic is such a beauty. I read it because I saw it was based on my favorite Richard Siken poem (and hey, Siken is my all time favorite poet. His poetry changed my life and influenced not only the person I am today, but my writing), and I found out it’s just– wonderful. 

Their conflict is so alive and simple at the end, and the way they manage to go through it, how they end up standing where they are by the end– all that makes the fic all the better. You should give it a try.

“There’s a lot out there,” Ryan shrugs, pointedly ignores the spirits whispering in his ear, and doesn’t count the shadows swarming the corners of the restaurant. “Who am I to limit it?”

Commentary: I’ve always liked the idea of seer!Ryan and this fic puts it in such a powerful way, I love it. This author’s style is deep and fresh, all wonderful and perfect. It’s a great fic!
