Request for @dranabela! Thank you so much for your request! (I hope it is to your satisfaction :)
So I received a request to do an mpreg drawing of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian from Heaven’s Official Blessing, with a bit of a modern twist. I’ve never read it, but I must say I had a lot of fun drawing them! And I didn’t want to choose between black and white or color, so I did one of each! Once again, I hope it was to your satisfaction. Enjoy!
Film vs. Digital (1/2)
Inspiration
So, I have been endeavoring to learn the ins and outs of photoshop cc and all of its components because I really wanted to bring some of my artwork to the fandom. I’m good with editing gifs and video, etc but I bloody suck with trying to draw anything digitally. It does not help that my ancient wacom bamboo tablet has left the realm of functionality.
HOWEVER, in speaking with my dear friend @mrsvioletwrites, (who makes amazing edits and pop art and please do check out her stuff!!!) I showed her some of my traditional work. She had some interesting things to say. I’m a trained studio artist. I am a portrait painter. I thoroughly love being covered in charcoal smudges as I work diligently on a piece to capture the emotion and lighting and the details that make something sing. I am not a trained digital artist. I’m learning that. Our dear Mrs.Violet has pointed out to me that nobody really does that kind of thing and that is a niche in and of itself. Some of my pieces have taken 40-60 hours to complete.
I’m seriously thinking about painting portraits of our beloved fandom characters. Traditional media, obvi. Again the Universe points out to me that trying to fit the mold is not always what causes us to shine. It is our differences that make us who we are. I have been frustrating myself to no end trying to do something that does not come naturally to me at all, when I have an entire skill set that I have been utterly ignoring. I mean, the one sketch I did of Kylo with just graphite and a few hours has been reblogged a ton of times, so I suppose you all like it?
How would you guys take traditionally painted fandom art? Let me know what you think.
My first RWBY fan art! I wanna do Qrow next but it's getting late. 👌 @robotic-overlord 🎨
A Braixen doodle I drew Braixen belongs to Nintendo and the Pokemon Company Art belongs to me
