I’ve been applying to audition with various orchestras, because you know what? Dream big. And so far, every German orchestra has sent me a very polite rejection, and both of the Scandinavian orchestras I’ve heard back from have invited me to audition.
So either the Germans hate me and the Scandinavians love me, or the Scandinavians are just desperate for a warm body that can hold a trombone.

A moment of personal privilege...
There are two orchestras, one in Cologne and one in Vienna, who are seeking a trombonist, and I just so happen to be a trombonist. I’m fairly certain that I’m meant to be a Biblical scholar rather than a professional musician, but still, these positions are tempting to me. I don’t know if I meet the high standard for a professional orchestra in a major European city, but even so, I stare at the application pages, and dream.
I’m just sitting here, translating Luke 2 and scrolling through Tumblr with nature documentaries on in the background.
I bet no other ucf admin leads as exciting or glamorous a life as this

I haven’t ever really tried Kpop; I could like it, but I wouldn’t know yet. Maybe I’ll make a point of seeking some out in the new year. I usually listen to classic rock, especially some of the older harder stuff (I love me some Ozzy Osbourne). I also really love classical and ancient church music; on occasion, usually when I’m by myself, I’ll stop what I’m doing to offer up a Gregorian chant.
And since I’ve mentioned classical, now seems like an opportune time to remind everyone that Beethoven is a jerk. Brilliant, but a jerk. I don’t care if it made sense with period instruments, the first trombone should not be screaming above the first trumpet. Rude.
