your concerns about the nb petition are valid but you all need to take a step back and realize that nothing is going to come of it anyway and that hating on the people who signed it is pointless. like, hey, i signed it. i'm aware of the problems it has but i'm also aware that nothing is going to happen, so i don't feel guilty about signing at all, because i think getting the government to at least know we exist is worth a shot.

it is fine to have your own opinion on it but don't attack people who support it; likewise, don't attack people who are against it if you do support it

its only going to benefit rich+middle-class white nonbinary people who can AFFORD to get their legal gender changed and its going to lead to SO MUCH unnecessary gatekeeping and itd give the government even more personal information this petition is NOT going to turn out well, regardless of intent

I'm thinking. As much as I want that nonbinary petition to work, and the discussion to at least be started on nb recognition... I don't trust the people who will be doing the discussing (the US gov). Like, look what they've done for/to binary trans people, particularly women. Don't know if I want that kind of attention. Enough people react negatively to nonbinary identities as it is.
