ok ok ok ok so i love making nb robot ocs for fairly obvious reasons but i was never rly sure how to go about the whole pronoun thing because while i understand a robot being named by their owner (or "owner") the idea of a human choosing a robot's pronouns for them rly squicked me out

but now i got this new idea like

imagine a human purchases a robot and they come with a little instructional pamphlet and right on the first page it has a picture of the robot and says "hi! i'm your new mechanical companion. i respond to the designated name ___ and any of the following pronouns: ____ though i may prefer ____. due to the adaptable nature of my programming, this may change over time, but if it does i am programmed to inform you right away."

i'm just 100% all for robofriends with the agency to choose their own gender since most are designed to be practically androgynous

plus friendly informative pamphlets that come with an advance warning that if you misgender your robot they are programmed the option not to respond at all
