@ponyway are you done trying to explain my own country's government to me as if I don't fucking live with it. The Electoral College isn't "all fair and honky dory", its biggest purpose was to give slave states more sway in politics and now it's used as an incentive to take away the voting rights of marginalized people. It's a terrible, broken system.
You were addressing Europeans so I gave my opinion as European. You also said “people don’t understand what Electoral College is for”, so I explained it. I don’t know why you’re whining about an answer you personally asked for. Slave states don’t exist anymore, but that doesn’t mean the current system is any better than going with popular vote. Like it or not, all those former slave states are also part of the United States. Including Texas, one of the biggest states by population.
Perhaps this is why people make fun of Americans? I think you just proved your “dumb American” stereotype correct.
