Got this pin from a new friend who works in Diversity & Inclusion 🤩 It’s serving as a great reminder and badge of commitment to supporting my sibling @michirukawabata and their true and whole identity as non-binary. A reminder that as their advocate & ally I can be the one to correct someone if they use a gendered pronoun or don’t know what salutation to use. As a cis-gendered woman, I have a lot of privilege in our binary gendered world, and my responsibility and commitment to my sibling is to stand up to and protect them from people who want to put them in a box. Language is a habit that is so hard to change, but my love for my sibling is far greater than the difficulty of changing habits or the discomfort I may feel from having to interrupt others’ behaviour.
