The UK is home to a number of non-endemic deer species. Chinese Water Deer, with their cute little protruding teeth, are widespread across portions of Central and Eastern England. The role and impact of so-called invasive species is very difficult to interpret. Historically, particularly in Britain, conservation has been aimed at preserving single species in situ in isolation from the wider and wilder environment.
