Back in like, 10th grade, I was reading the Percy Jackson books and read how Aphrodite, when she claims her kids, makes them Hot and Super Pretty for like, a week or w/e, and Piper was Really Uncomfortable w that, so I was wondering: what about a goth girl? How would she react? Piper is a butch lesbian (bite me), so she’s more.... grungey? I guess is the word, so it wasn’t that much of a jump, but what about a girl who’s more like Merlina Addams? A girl who dresses all in black and is interested in the occult and fantasy, someone who’s more book-oriented, an inside kid if u will. This is how Vanessa F. Sommer was created

Vanessa Forsythia Sommer is a 15 year old Jewish German girl. Her dad is a marine biologist, and her house was full of books. Because of her dad’s studies, she knows quite a deal about marine life and ecosystems. She moves to Islamorada, FL bcus her dad’s research sent him there. She is very pale, has dark black hair, and dresses like Merlina Addams from the Addams Family

next I got to thinking, “well, what about other godly kids? what if they don’t match their godly parent?” And I’ve always considered Athena to be my godly parent, so I was thinking of a kid who wouldn’t be necessarily book-smart... what about street-smart? Someone who’s more athletic, someone who isn’t in confident in their intelligence? This is how Stetson Morris was born

Stetson Morris is a 16 year old black kid from Harlem, NY, a city known for its renaissance and contribution to the written word. They’re more interested in basketball than studying, and is failing in their classes. Their mom is a literary analyst for the FBI, so she tries to push them to do better in school because she wants to see them do good. They have confidence issues

I also got to thinking, “well, now that I have a sports-oriented oc, what about Ares? He’s a man’s man, ultimate jock, hardass, very brutal in nature... what if he had a kid who was soft, and gentle, and kind, and averse to fighting? Someone who would always try to back out of a fight?” This is how Nonnah Cole was made

Nonnah Cole is a 17 year old girl who’s trans and lives in Baltimore, MD. She’s interested in fashion and design, and loves hanging out w her siblings. Her parents are both attorneys, and are very supportive of her and her interests. She tries to keep a low-profile anywhere where it’s not safe to be queer, even though her parents have sent her to self-defense classes and have repeatedly told her that she should never take shit from anybody. She’s terrified of fights and doesn’t ever want to get involved in one

Hephaestus child: Nhat Hoa Thom is a 14 year old Vietnamese primadonna ballerina who’s never had to work hard before in her life. Her mother is first violin in the National Vietnam Symphony Orchestra. She doesn’t like getting dirty, and is very snotty and bratty. Very rich, so doesn’t really think about the cost of things

Zeus child: Seraphina Chaney is an 18 year old girl from Pike County, Kentucky, USA. She has worked in a coal mine for the last few years of her life, and as a result has asthma, bad eyesight, back problems, a bad leg, and is slightly deaf in one ear. She’s an orphan who got aged out of the system and very distrustful of adults and authority figures, and her closest parental relationships would be her case worker and the lady who ran the orphanage. She’s extremely scared of heights

Poseidon child: Fermin Contreras Roca is a 17 year old Bolivian Quechua salt harvester who’s never seen the ocean before. He grew up surrounded by land in an in-land country. His mom is also a salt harvester, but the economy isn’t like what it used to be, so he decided to cross into the U.S. via the Rio Grande to find any job opportunity to help his family. When he was about to cross the river, it seemed to part for him. He got on a truck to Montana and is currently working on a farm

And my coup de grâce, Cressa Vasileiou: a daughter of Hera. The inspiration behind her was: who would be the most scandalous child? The Big 3 all reneged on their promises on not having any more children, and w/e I guess, but who would never back from their promise of being loyal?

Cressa Vasileiou is a 42 year old Greek mom of three. She is a principal at a school, and cares deeply for the safety of her children, biological or not. Her father is a humble tomato farmer in Santorini, where she’s lived all her life. When she learns that her mother Hera, is actually the Greek goddess Hera, she takes the first plane to New York to go to Camp Half-blood and learn about her heritage. She is a demigod marvel: she’s old. This is because every time any monster tried to cross her path, they’d smell the scent of her mother and steer clear. She has ancient blood in her veins

After Cressa, I tried thinking of more opposite godly children. Hermes is a god of many many many things, and it was difficult thinking of a child who would be very polar to his... everything. Until I thought of James S. Hipwood

James Sweet Hipwood is a 16 year old Wampanoag Native girl from Aquinnah, MA. She is the best student of her grade, doing her best to maintain a high GPA so she can get into Wellesley College, her ultimate desire. She wants to become a scientist of sorts, and is very goal-focused and career oriented, very studious and a good kid overall. She is very... scandalized when she finds out her godly dad is known to be a Mess, and a Slut, a complete difference to her hardworking carpenter dad whose only claim to fame has been nailing a Greek god

A kid of Dionysus was next in line, and I had originally planned for it to be a bartender who can’t taste tannids, but eventually scrapped that idea and came up with Fiorello Moretti Venturi

Fiorello Moretti Venturi is a 14 year old boy from Tuscany, Italy, a region known for its many high-quality wines. His mom married an abusive drunk, had his younger sister with him, and they moved to Brooklyn, MA, where his mom is pregnant again. He’s a very angry kid, who takes up boxing at the local boxing ring. He’s called a trouble kid bcus he gets into lots of fights in school, but it’s always in defense of another kid. He has a complicated relationship to his gender bcus every adult man in his life has been a terrible person and every adult woman in his life has always tried to protect him: he wants to embrace femininity and cut ties w his masculinity, but he wants to be a better man than what he’s encountered. He’s doesn’t ever want to drink alcohol, and the only time he’s drunk wine was at his first communion
