Can you talk about dominant hand gestures?
alright, power poses 👍 most are straightforward, you only have to be aware of it. i linked random bts images to show you how an expression can look like.
thumbs in belt is a confidence classic
back of the hand is the upper one/faces upward during handshakes
rather displaying chest/axillae and keep your hands behind your neck, esp. sitting — exposing vulnerable areas without the need to shield them communicates esteem
no barriers communicate a) nothing to hide b) confidence
a pointing index signals strong aggression
palms upward: openness. palms downward: authority
lack of self-soothing cues — the person is grounded
less grooming gestures — the person feels attractive the way they are
walking holding hands, the dominant hand pulls forward = leadership
another classic: the victory clenched fists
a dominant hand is territorial and rests on one’s own hip or other people’s shoulders (namjoon always does that lmao mind you it’s the tallness), arms, side/hip, lower back
no opposite wrist holds
hand leaning on e.g. an adjacent chair/furniture laxly indicates high power
no scratching or rubbing at the neck
hands clasped behind the back, butler stance, symbolizes status (tae does that often 😄) — important: no opposite wrist holds again
hands not perched between legs
both arms cross instead of just one hand holding onto another arm — it’s like the opposite wrist hold. power poses have a lot of symmetry instead.
no shielding of the face
palms flat on the table when speaking as you stand (didn’t find a bts pic so here’s a stock one lmao)
lack of self-touching (esp face, lips in particular) — again, no barries equals power
both hands out of pockets, spread out: generates rapport. hands in pockets: distance
lack of genital guarding
tell-tale sign: when arms are crossed, the thumbs are visible.
when hands are in pockets, same rule applies. or vice versa, when the thumbs hook into pockets.
the best person to study for confident hand gestures is hoseok, he hardly doesn’t power pose.
