Nordenham in the Wesermarsch district of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Northern Germany, sits at the mouth of the Weser river on the Butjadingen peninsula on the Nordsee (North Sea). The large seaport of Bremerhaven is located on the other side of the river. The Midgard-seaport in Nordenham is the largest private-owned harbor in Germany.
Nordenham evolved from the town of Atens due to the efforts by merchant Wilhelm Müller who traded cattle and sheep to England in the late 1800s. Some of the oldest parts of town are the old villages of Blexen, Einswarden, and Atens. Bishop Willehad, a Northumbrian-born missionary of the Frisians, died in Blexen in 789, which is commonly accepted to be Blexen's year of foundation. Nordenham's town founder Wilhelm Müller later built his farm house and a restaurant on the same site, which have since been demolished.
Roy Uwe Ludwig Horn (*1944) is the city's most famous son as a member of "Siegfried & Roy" of Las Vegas fame. He grew up in Blexen but left town rightafter school and supposedly never returned after his remarkable breakthrough as a magician. In the movie "Siegfried & Roy: The Magic Box" (1999) his youth was briefly mentioned, but the landscape shown did not bear any resemblance to the real thing.

Offiziell endet…
