Celebrating my forty-something birthday where my wife and I were heading out to dinner, dressed up. I've had this suit for 3 years or so, but just got it back from the tailors. I have not worn it much because it's a little trendy for me. Shorter jacket (measures at 31 inches, my comfort level starts at 32.5 inches), shorter sleeves, slimmer and all.. It is still a wonderfully made suit by Attolini that comes with all the bells and whistles a suit of this caliber comes with. I feel that suit is more suitable for a night out to a classic/classy event, rather than the office. Being that our dinner reservations were at night, I chose to go the 'Gotham Dark' route, with the black captoe shoes from Alfred Sargent and dark navy tie from Ascot Chang. Turned heads for sure and the look wore on me as I moved around. Keeping it going with the springtime colors.. my latest commission from a local clothier..went with an emerald green in a double-breasted look.. I am mostly happy with it.. I like the drape of the suit.. I opted for a structured shoulder (I was going for roping, but their factory in their supply chain did not have the ability to duplicate this look) and a 4 by 1 configuration..The lapels clock in at 5 inches and it's paired with high-waisted pants including the side tab adjusters.. fully canvassed and lined in both the jacket and the pants to aid drape ability...If there were something I would like to improve on in future commissions with this company, it would be the work around the armholes..I think they are a smidge low and it could be cleaned up a bit around it.. overall, I would give this first commission a 7.5/10..the pants are superb and that was a worry that was alleviated..Paired with this orange beauty from Canali.. have had this tie for a while but struggled with what I felt comfortable pairing it with.. most of my suiting is set up for business conservative.. I felt it would work here with spring officially in full bloom and it being Easter.. the shirt is an MTO from proper cloth and the shoes are from Armin Oehler... a whole cut from full-grain calfskin leather on a good year welt. A simple classic office look for the win-Worn for a meeting done sometime last week.. I aimed to keep it really simple with the classic pinstripe suit, thin pinstripe shirt, grenadine tie and whole cuts for the meet. This suit in particular, made by Caruso, has its own back story.. this 3 roll 2 beauty was originally made for an NBA player.. he never picked the suit up, so it was sold to a third party who reached out to me, being that he was local and could not figure out anyone who could fit the dimensions of the suit. The player in question was 6″11 and I am 6″9 (with my hair, lol)..so the longer jacket at the time (measuring all of 34 inches from below the collar) and sleeves (30 inches) sort of worked. I had it tailored and wore it for five years with the jacket being longer than I liked. I took it to my tailor late last year and finally took the plunge to have it shortened from 34 inches down to 32.75 inches...We both decided that anymore than that we would throw the balance off from the pockets and the front/back silhouette. When I took the suit to my tailor 6 years ago, we also decided to recut the shoulder pads.. while they were soft, at the time, they did not conform to the slope of my shoulders adequately. My tailor did the best he could and I am 95% satisfied with the outcome. This suit is from Caruso’s mainline, which is on par with other mainline products from the likes of Zegna and Canali which I found interesting being this was supposed to be a made to measure product for the athlete. Mostly machine work throughout the suit, which is fine to me. I have their higher line from Parma and there is a big difference in quality between both. Overall I am happy with the suit. Classic proportions that veer slim but not unnecessarily so. The back is pretty clean and the suit drapes well showing off clean lines, overall. Also included in this fit is my favorite grenadine from Jay Kos and the maiden voyage of these whole cuts from Spier and Mackay. Good Year Welted with full grain leather. This suit was purchased 5 years ago when I went home to my home country to renew my vows with my wife..crazy enough at the time, I purchased this suit 2 sizes to big..the reason why because I know Suit Supply's Washington cut was cut very slim and I needed a suit that would fit they way I wanted within a 2 week window..at the time, my clotheir's turn around time on their suits was 6 weeks..it was baggy and shapeless.. but my awesome tailors re-cut it to fit well..all in all, the whole process took 3 weeks.. they re-cut the shoulders, sleeves, removed the pockets on the jacket, to slim the sides down a lot and then re-sew them in..they took out the belt loops and created side tabs for me, took out the pockets, really slimmed down the pants, then re-attached them back again.. got extra fabric and attached the cuffs (I'm a 37.5 inseam, so I need a 41 inseam most of the time for 2 inch cuffs)..it was a smashing success and it still fits well today.. and its still my most complimented suit..I miss this Suit Supply..their newer iterations are cut much slimmer and shorter.. going the opposite way of the classic menswear spectrum that is headed back towards classic leanings..My first suit purchased from Suit Supply was back in 2011, and I still wear it today..unfortunately, I have not purchased from them in 2 years or so, and I don't see myself purchasing any of their suiting options for a while until the cuts start to change..Im waiting on my three piece MTM suit from Spier and Mackay coming in this week.. so I'll break down my experience with them next.. added is this plum grenadine tie and pocket square from my local clothier who iinvested in grenadines after I suggested they do.. I love it and have another one from them in brown..Shoes are from Carmina, the only one I own from them, being that its hard to find them RTW in my shoes size..what do you guys think?  SUIT: suit supply (washington)..SHIRT: finamore napoli..TIE/PS: r douglas.. The charcoal gray suit.. its a three piece that I use as a two piece a lot... This was for work and I went conservative with a splash of color.. the white shirt, dark solid suit and the captoe shoes are all hallmarks of a very conservative fit..where I fit some fun in was with the pocket square and tie..its a way to say Im serious about my business but we could have some fun..I like to do that from time to time and it works well for me.. what do you guys think? The essential blue suit.. my latest purchase, picked up from @spiermackay and Mackay..I purchased it a size larger than it had tailored (in a lot of ways, re-cut), to fit being that its easier to take in than let out.. I also did this because I was not sure about their sizing.. some of these clothing establishments will give you a sizing guide and then when you could the actual suit, its not close to the sizing guide provided.. for me thats important as I need every inch for the length of the sleeves and inseam due to my 6"9 (2.06m) height.. I think it came out just fine but in the future will stick to my size or even a step lower, who knows..what do you guys think?
