I’ve kept my health on the down-low lately because I was truly worried. My lung function numbers continue dropping ever so slightly and I was getting a little winded with exercise. I got campath, the chemo drug, 7 weeks ago. I started IV antibiotics 4 weeks ago. I was feeling a little better, but those numbers weren’t budging. I went to Duke this week for a follow up with my doctor as well as a bronchoscopy. My numbers were down, more so than 4 weeks ago. So, Dr Gray switched up a ton of my medications. She switched my IV antibiotics, added a general antibiotic I will be on indefinitely, added me back on an extra immunosuppressant, added 2 nebulized antibiotics, and added an oral antibiotic for 14 days. She also ordered an in-depth bronchoscopy. Usually they look at the airways and take one biopsy from the right upper lobe. This time, they went deep into my lower lobes, took 8 biopsies, and scrubbed my lungs clean. I feel like someone beat the crap out of me from the inside. But all for the greater good, right? I had a wonderful time in Durham visiting with my donors Mom, speaking about organ donation and cystic fibrosis, visiting with Amanda Varnes and Caitlin Jones. I try to make appointments fun. I just heard back from my coordinator, and *drumroll* NO REJECTION!!!!! I was honestly so worried, I love these little lungs and I never want to lose Dre. So, now we work on getting whatever is lingering in my lower airways. We got this, I’m doing it for Dre. I have a passion for life and I strive to live. Thank you EVERYONE who prayed, sent good juju, or whatever. We’re still in the thick of things, getting over whatever is in my lungs. It’s never over, I will always be fighting to live. #doubelungtransplant #norejection #thankyoudre #doitfordre #cysticfibrosis
