Today's Beta Pokemon of the Day is a bit of a strange one.

Stromen looks a lot like a cursing doll, with a nail through its stomach to match. That can't be comfortable...

NOROWARA and KYONPAN

A norowara person is prone to obsessing over people and things, often in a negative way. They simply cannot let things go, and stew in their dark thoughts and grudges. They are the sort to carefully plan out their enemies’ downfall well in advance, or wait months or years for just the right moment to shame them. They are very petty, willing to harm themselves to avenge insults. They have a long memory and an undeterrable will, and often present a falsely cheery countenance. 

A kyonpan person moves through life in a daze, struggling to summon enough energy to tend to their tasks but somehow pushing forward through a sort of fatigued determination. They have very one-sided relationships with other people, relying entirely on them to maintain their energy levels and emotional stability. They may appear inoffensive and harmless on the outside, but have creepy thoughts and a dark soul.

those scrapped gen 2 pokémon designs have been on my mind for like four days straight, so i thought i’d try flexing some of my monster design muscles and redesign some of these beautiful children that were tragically denied to us

Definitely fond of the concept, but stylistically Norowara doesn’t fit as a Pokemon.  Later on we got Shuppet and Banette, who are also cursed dolls, but much more lively and personable.  I’m glad they revisited the concept.  I really like the crooked smile this thing has.  The asymmetry makes it creepier.
