Bommasin (Bomazeen)
Kennebec/Norridgewock (Wabanaki). Bomazeen’s homelands in the interior of the place now commonly called “Maine,” along the Kennebec river.
Bomazeen’s mark appears here on this copy of the 1693 treaty at Pemaquid, a renewal of an earlier treaty (1678 at Casco Bay) to maintain good relationships between Wabanaki tribes and English settlers. The document outlines the terms of a 20-day truce between the two parties, including a “cessation of arms,” an exchange of captives and a reconvening of parties in 20 days time.
Original treaty signed 1693. Seen at the Massachusetts State Archives.

This was the library in the town I lived in when I was young, from the end of the sixties through the middle seventies. I spent a lot of time at this wonderful little library on the banks of the Kennebec River. • This is a repost from @207sarah - thanks for the memories your photo brought back! • #Memories #Norridgewock #Maine #Hometown #KennebecRiver #Seventies #Youth https://www.instagram.com/p/B9SHfzxAjLD/?igshid=17pf2yqz7kaqx
I spent the years from sixth grade though high school in a small Maine town called Norridgewock. I first moved there the Summer of 1968 and left the Summer of 1975. In 2011 a new bridge replaced an older bridge. In 2011 Caleb Baker took this drone shot of the new bridge he called “The Pride of Norridgewock.” You can also see the old railroad trestle bridge that I remember sneaking out on to. He called that bridge “The Shame of Norridgewock.” . #Norridgewock #Maine #NewBridge #Memories #FiftyYearsOn https://www.instagram.com/p/BpiOunsgjUV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=rmdss8444f31
