This is my favorite spot in town. Saddlerock: a great (short) hike, with beautiful views of the sunsets and sunrises. On days I need to clear my head of the clutter that’s gathered, this is my place. I was walking to work Thursday morning. The sun hadn’t quite come up yet, it was cold and clear and calm, and My Morning Jacket was playing. Then I looked to the right and I saw the light coming over the foothills and the last star or planet showing in the sky and I thought, “This is where I’m supposed to be. I’m supposed to be here feeling this and taking in its beauty.” And I was happy. Happy to be alive and happy with where my life is. Happy to be so connected to my surroundings.
