Want to take a drive into the sunset? This dirt road is by Skálar on Langanes located in Northeast Iceland. Back in 1920-1930 up to 120 people lived there mainly living off fishing. Skálar is very isolated and it took up to three days to get to nearest village Þórshöfn. Living conditions were quite tough, no harbour for the fishing boats so all the catch and fishing gear need to be carried to and from the boats, often during heavy surf. After 1930 people started moving away and by 1945 all had left. One family moved back and lived at Skálar until 1954. Today you can only see the foundations of some of the houses. #iceland #midnightsun #northeasticeland #roads #pink #wanderlust #doyoutravel #phototours #photoguide #cloudporn #mystopover #igers #ig_iceland https://www.instagram.com/p/B9NQxFuAqI-/?igshid=1ixrozixniiiz
