Shopping Haul! 25/7/19
‘Went down the town with my neighbour for a nice day out shopping for the first time in fuck-knows how long. As a deeply introverted person, I felt like a dog let off it’s leash as my eyes took in everything around me. Also, as I’m writing this, we are suffering one hell of a heatwave in the UK, and today has been announced as THE hottest. Every time you step out the door, it feels like opening an oven door! I’m a northerner, mind you, we are not used to this heat! It felt like I was in a different country altogether.
My neighbour wanted to take me down to let me see the new art supply shop that’s opened in town, called “The Works”. Even better since he told me there was a sale on. I fell in love once I stepped in. So many art supplies from woodwork, craft, painting, loads of books etc. I’ve been waiting for a shop like this to be in my local town centre! Of course, I’d limited myself to a budget before leaving, but the sale meant I got a great deal. All my items for £21, which included: Some nice Peacock related items! A holographic shopping bag and two notebooks! These ones will do nicely for story notes.
An aluminium water bottle with a sort of ink splatter effect on it, so that’s right up my street.
Two books based around Game of Thrones, a colouring book and a book of facts. Of course, the ASOIAF series is so vast that they could never fit everything interesting into this thin book, and by now I’m willing to say I’ll know a lot of the stuff in here. But having neat looking book with lore details might inspire me to get back to my own writing. I like to collect colouring books, not to colour them in, but to admire the nice line-art and ink work. This one is really unique for all the different art styles, and even different mediums - some pencil, some ink & pen.
An A4 plain notepad. Honestly good quality paper, I can’t wait get stuff done in this.
Leaving The Works, I took a gander into WHSmiths to see if there were any graphic novels in stock. They didn’t. I did however, spot this thick magazine showcasing some great illustrative artists, some interviews, different art styles, concept art, tutorials. I’m looking forward to reading through it while in London. I hope I can learn a few new things with this.
Lastly, I decided to treat myself and buy two new chocolates that have come out, ‘cos I like trying new flavours and I haven’t had any for a while. I can keep them saved until my trip. Though, I have made a start on the chocolate coins. Mostly because these don’t usually come out until Christmas, so I was pleasantly surprised to see them.
