northern lights tonight
eldritch horror light™ ghost king danny design idea.
saw a post about how ghost king danny should have a crown made of the norther lights. and they are completely right and they should say it. auroras look like flames sorta so it fits with the crown of fire from the show, and auroras fit into both dannys ice powers (cause yah know auroras happen most often at/near the north/south poles) and dannys love of space (you can see some constilations all year round in the arctic) and the newer trope of danny being like an eldritch horror when summoned is pretty cool (i still like the "someone summons the ghost king and gets normal human danny fenton" trope more but eldritch horror is a fun contrast)
OK OK OK so if Socrates' daemon was like the ones in Phillip Pullman's work, what animal would it be?
Mrs Coulters’ feeling towards Dust, whether corrupted by the magisterium or her own are so very interesting. Particularly in the latest episode!!!
When meeting Mary, she’s first taken aback when Mary mentions Lyras’ thoughts on the morality of Dark Matter....Dust. I think the use of the word MORALITY was incredibly important.
Of course she is also stunned to learn that Lyra can read the alethiometer. But when that is picked back up later with Lyra herself, everything gets a thousand times more interesting.
“I can tell you more about Dust, if you want me too” -
Like everything Marisa Coulter one can never know her true intentions. It seems very much like she is luring Lyra just as she has tried to do many times before, but there is also a flicker of honesty in her words. She clearly believes she knows more about Dust than her child. Is her understanding of Dust based on her “work” at Bolvangar or does it come from some sort of innate instinct?
“I can teach you to use that power in other ways” -
What are these other ways? Clearly a connection could be made to her ability to manipulate the Spectres... but are there more? Her unusual connection to her Daemon? Her ability to manipulate men?
In her little post knife heist chat with Boreal she immediately realises that Spectres are drawn to Dust after finding out that they are only attracted to adults, which he had not.
“Once you understand something you can master it”. -
So does she believe that she understands Dust it’s self or did that a just refer to Spectres? Even Asriel ‘the most arrogant man in history’ himself doesn’t calm to understand Dust. Could it be possible that she does understand Dust??? Or does she understand the nature of things/beings that are MORALLY corrupt?
I haven’t said anything particularly clever, I’m just so fascinated about Mrs Coulters’ relationship to Dust.
