New loyalties, same rules
Dave knew exactly what he was doing, to get what he wanted - whilst all of his time wasn't spent on payback, he spent a good part of his time making sure the life of one of his past employed men was but a living hell.
The so called hit was just his enjoyment being had, paying the Westies to do his dirty work, to give Reese that good ol' welcome back from Corleone. He was sure Reese got the message loud and clear, you don't just drop loyalties like that, you don't play with Gambino's money, hadn't he learned that from the first day they met. Reese witnessing the men Gambino had killed executional style because they wanted to play with his money, his precious time. Steele must have, for a moment forgotten his rules, and whether he made Reese a made man or not, he still needed to abide by them until told otherwise. Logan had done so, and now Reese wanted to be the disobedient one, oh how he saw that coming.
Tough, the rebel would learn his lesson, and very soon. After so much time, not really knowing Reese, it took only minutes, maybe seconds to break him down and see a weak point in him. That Genovese, would be the death of him, he would see to that, after finding the lipstick in the garage, Steele never the one to make mistakes had made one when he decided to lay eyes on that princess. To be honest, he didn't have anything against the Genovese, but they stood in his way, and even his friendship with Joseph would not stop him from handing out the punishment from breaking his rules, what would that say about him?
So for now he would play a game with Steele. Until he saw the perfect opportunity to strike and then he would have Steele on his knees begging to die because that was the only way out of this, out of this betrayal, bloodshed.
Putting out the cigarette, watching the taxi's busily make their way to the next destination, he saw his old friend. In good health, Dave noticed and just that brought a smile to his face. Remembering his exact orders: where to aim and fire, but try, and only try to miss the vital organs...we can personally ship those to his siblings in Detroit. Once he stepped on the cigarette, and started to walk among the crowded sidewalk, he caught up to his friend, a sinister smirk on his face, he didn't even have to call to Reese to alert him of his presence, he just knew it, lucky Dave.
